Who owes me money?

I love my dogs, I love my dogs, I love my dogs. I really do, but today I need to remind myself!

I have worn glasses since I was 9. I am BLIND without them. They are the first thing I put on in the morning and the last thing I take off at night. They go on the shelf right above my bed. Early this morning my mom called and said she was dropping off muffins (YUM!) and could I meet her at the fence? I got up, put my slippers on and left my glasses. I was thinking I'd be right back and was going to lay down for a few more minutes until it was time to get the kids up, which is exactly what I did. When I got up a bit later my glasses weren't where they always are. UGH! I know the dogs didn't take them while I was in bed, so it must have been when I went to get the muffins. I checked the bathroom thinking maybe I left them there the night before. Then, I checked the family room. Maybe I took them off when I was falling asleep watching Brothers and Sisters? Nope, not there... So, I got the kids up and had them help. (Remember I'm pretty much blind, so me looking for them is useless.) About 15 minutes into the search Alyssa found this in the front yard.

Aparently the dogs thought it was time for me to get new glasses. It has been two years. I considered driving myself to the eye Dr., but realized that it's illegal and besides, I CAN'T see! So, I called my dad and asked him to take me. When I arrived I was reminded by an employee that the LAST time I got new glasses the dogs had eaten them. She then condescendingly asked me if I kept them in a safe place. I was going to explain but then realized, what business is it of hers?? Besides, how does she remember that?! It was two years ago! I hardly remembered it! (I try not to hold grudges.)

When all was said and done, WITH insurance, I paid $317. Not exactly cheap but I had to get them today! Now the question is, which dog owes me the money? If Rose still lived here she would have been blamed. (Sorry Rose!) But since she is North Carolina I can hardly charge her...

Kennedy (Rose's mom) is my #1 suspect. She is the one that ate the glasses two years ago. She is typically very good now so I'd be kind of surprised....but then again, she does have a record.

Lizzy is suspect #2. She is very sweet and loving and perfect in almost every way, BUT she does sleep on the bed with me, so that means she was in the bed at the time the glasses disappeared.

Suspect # 3 - Rosaleena is very sweet as well, but DOES like to steal things and take them out the doggie door. She typically sleeps under the bed, so was in the vicinity at the time the glasses disappeared.

Gracie and Chloe are the only ones that have an alibi. They slept with Alyssa last night and her door was closed. Besides they are the least likely to steal and destroy...

I'm not sure who to be mad at...So I guess I need to get over it. I'll just add it to the ever growing list of things I've had to replace over the years. *Sigh*

Ok....I just asked Rose and she said she has no idea WHAT you're talking about? She fluttered those EXTREEMLY long eyelashes and said she thinks it's Rosaleena! (personally, I think she's covering for her Mother!) She'd also like to know if she should retain a lawyer or maybe Gloria Allred as she's feeling a wee bit as if you're going to ask her to take a lie detector test or ask for a paw print!!!

Carole- Where was Rose early this morning??? Hmmm??? Perhaps she took a quick plane ride to come visit and the glasses were just too tempting? :)

Allyson- I think we talked about it before, but maybe not... Chloe is my daughters chihuahua. We rescued her almost two years ago. We just didn't have enough dogs.... :) She is a really sweet girl and Alyssa's best friend!

Jane- Rosaleena is almost a year old. She and Lizzy are full sisters. (from different litters) Rosaleena just finished up her testing, which is always a relief!!

This sounds like a case for Sherlock Holmes! I dunno... that Lizzy looks mighty suspicious... :-) Sorry to hear about your woes... but it sounds like the pups were just trying to take care of your eye health!

I work in Optometry,every week I see at least 2-3pts whose dog ate their glasses....My expert opinion from years of looking at chewed up frames.....IS the big dog on top....those are big dog teeth marks.
I am going to go back and read your suspect list now... I dont know which one did it. All 3 are big enough for those marks.

*Rubbing palms together* Ooooh another Doodle Kisses Mystery! These are always impossible for me to solve, so I won't try...but maybe several are to blame? You know...the daredevil completes the theft for the sheer thrill, while the chewer does the damage!
This does remind me, however, that I too have only ONE pair of glasses. Hmmmm...better get me a back up!

At least you found something of your glasses. Six months after replacing mine I found a part of them in the back part of the garden. At the time I had two dogs that never went after anything but food or paper. So glasses was a stretch

I think it's Kennedy. You know it's like human flesh, once they've tasted glasses....Why did you keep a convicted felon in the house? I'm not sure they can be rehabilitated. It does sometimes help to look on the bright side as I see you are trying to do. You probably did need new glasses. And I never really liked the color of my couch--slipcover here I come. Luca really is innocent, it was an accident. I think your dogs all look sooo sweet. And remember, I love my dogs, I love my dogs.

I say, hold all three accountable until the guilty party confesses! Let the culprit's peers apply the pressure. I can hear it now...
"Sure; you had to take mom's glasses and now we're all in the dog house! You better come clean or I'm telling!"
(PS: I vote for #3. Nobody is that innocent looking unless they have something to hide! lol)
