We took Louie to the Vet yesterday evening to have a re-check, we had a little trouble after his nueter with some swelling, everything is fine now so just needed a five minute visit.
Now bearing in mind Louie is the most friendly dog I have ever known, and wants to play with all creatures great and small. I was blown away when right out of the blue he started growling at a friendly dog in the waiting room. I have never seen anything like that from him! Anyway the dog left and all was fine and we made our way into the exam room. We had to flip louie over (he doesn't do his down at the vet) so the vet could take a look at his incision, all is fine and we can go home with no more meds.
As we were talking with the vet he decided to take one more feel of Louie and again right out of the blue louie kind of "went for him" I was absoloutely astounded! I did not think our sweet Louie had it in him. The vet was very nice about it and we left.
After talking it over with my husband we put it down to the anxiety, the vet is not Louies favourite place and almost always seems to get stuck with a needle so may have some bad feeling about the place, but still a little worried about it right now, will talk to our trainer about it this week.
Hopefully this will never happen again!

My 13 year old Chow Chow does not like to go to vet either....
Actually, he was fine until he had major surgery for Bloat. Ever since then, when we take him to the vet, he will have to be muzzled, because he will "go for him"..... I hope Louie get over this phase and feels OK about it...

Possibly he was super stressed, in pain and didn't feel well. Think of how you and I feel after surgery. CRANKY. As of now I am NOT an authority on aggression and biting because that it what my 16 week old puppy does constantly, although I will add a short story about my old and very gentle giant mastiff.
Pete NEVER was aggressive. One day out of the blue a neighbor grabbed his collar gently as he did all the time. These 2 loved each other. Pete Snapped and drew blood from the elderly man. It turns out Pete had a severe and massive ear infection that had just begun and was progressing quickly. The neighbors touch was very painful. He never snapped again.
We all like to go somewhere quiet and be alone until we are feeling well and even a trip to the Dr for a checkup post surgery can make us feel awful, tired and stressed. We snap at our spouses and loved ones. Give him a few quiet days and he should be a sweetie again.
