Welcome! Doodlekisses is a great place to learn/share about doodles. There are many groups that you can join. For example, there are groups for grooming, nutrition, health/medical, types of doodles, puppy groups etc. Enjoy!

Ask the vet to do a skin scraping of the affected area. If he/she doesn't know what that is, you need another vet.

(They scrape some cells onto a slide and examine it under a microscope for bacteria, yeasts, and especially mites)

Hi Christina, I saw your discussion in the Puppy Madness group, but I am not a member there so could not respond.

Your puppy does not have allergies. It is almost unheard of in a dog so young. It may be a contact dermatitis, or it may be a bacterial or yeast overgrowth, but it is not a food allergy. Most GP vets are not well-educated in allergies, just as your primary care doctor is not; that's why they refer you to a specialist.
