I'm very sorry to hear that our extra large size gentle brother, Winston (from Estee/Hank) just had a surgery AGAIN from eating socks. Winston has had a surgery once when he was a puppy, also from eating socks.
Luxie (from Estee/Micah) is a Miss Sock Monster that she has eaten a few socks and needed a surgery. Luxie got famous that her story was printed in PetPlan's news paper - "petplan claim of the month!"
Mochi (from Tula/Micah) also loves socks. He swallowed a few of mommy's socks (they're smaller), luckily we were able to make him throw up by giving him a bit of peroxide right away.
Who else is a sock monster here?

Perhaps this is TMI, but Dude prefers underwear. Fortunately, he's able to tear them into smaller pieces.
Ya know...these guys (and girls) are not cheap!!! I guess it's just dogs in general that eat anything in sight. My cousin's doberman had to have surgery to get pantyhose out:)
It's like ingrained in my brain now that when I walk into a room or get ready to leave the house I always scope out the room to look for potential hazards. Like what I used to do when my real kids were little:)
oh no...:( I didnt know poor Sophie also had a surgery.
whats in socks that make them all want it so badly?!
Someone please invent bitter apple laundry detergent!!
Well Kashmir will join the group also! She Loves socks whether they are dirty and smelly or just right out of the dryer.
I try REAL hard to make sure I don't drop any on the floor or leave any around, but she mysteriously gets them anyways!
In fact she will "flaunt" them if she gets one, only to try and play "Keep Away", a game she loves, but I don't try to play with her!!!!! Sometimes I don't see her, she takes them outside and then I'll be doing dishes looking out the window and see she has one and it starts over again!! She is also a chewer and likes wood. When she was little she did try to bite some of my furniture, but like Carla and others, the Bitter Apple worked great. So my furniture has stayed intact. We do give her tree branches, we save them when we trim our trees. Of course she likes to bring them inside and then there are shreddings all over, but it is a cheap chew toy!! She loves Bully sticks, we don't give her too many, but we just bought her the Elk antlers and she has really taken to them. Also, we used to be able to stuffed toys, but not anymore, recently she learned how to take the stuffing out, so we only buy the stuff-less ones. The only thing she hasn't tore up is her little SNUGGLES (the warm animal with the real heart) animal, we call her "BABY Buddy" and that still has the stuffing!! So gladly, she hasn't swallowed any like Luxie. By the way, has anyone been in contact with Cathy/Luxie?
I tried contacting her, but no answer. Hope all is okay with her.
I now have pet insurance for Winston, facing a 4,000.00 bill just at property tax time is not easy. Winston also likes TP and the newer the roll the better. He is not a wall chewer but Bella is. She likes moldings; this is my first dog (10 dogs spanning 44 years) to go after walls and moldings.
I would try and make Winston throw up the sock, but he is a secret sock eater (actually swallows them whole), so he is fairly sick when you realize there is something wrong. By that time the sock is no longer in the stomach. Freya just looks for the opportunity to get things out of the bathroom garbage cans. Always fun at my house
