Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello, I have tons of love and snuggles, great home and will treat my doodle as the most esteemed member of my family , besides my cat. I live in Los Angeles, CA....Doodle must be housetrained, good with cats to point of even not bothering to chase or get to know him...I think the cat will come around in time. Ideally medium sized and color is of no matter, although I do love the white, black and apricot colors. No matter male or female. My cat is male, 13 years old and very interactive. Thank you for emailing me at chiroqueen@yahoo.com. I look forward to hearing from anyone with a doggie for adoption, rescue, rehome, etc. Possibly a doodle needing fostering depending on circumstances is also a way I can give back. I look forward to hearing from you and meeting more of you on this site..you guys have some amazingly adorable doggies...I hope to join your ranks soon with my doggie/me mug! Happy Doodles...Lynn Doodle Doodle Doo

How about some doodle sitting? I had three guests this summer and they were fantastic companions for my two doodles. Put the word out there and you can find some doodles to borrow or foster. You definitely don't want a puppy if you require them to be housetrained. That takes a while. I like puppy smells and training a puppy, but it doesn't sound like you are interested in that experience. There are lots of doodles out there who need homes, so just keep open to finding the right one for you. Definitely get in touch with IDOG and DRC in the LA area.
Thanks Lynda..I did not know about that. Soon I will be up on the boards with my doggie too..I feel alone in my pix..need my doggie doodle doodle doo. Where on the website do I see these doodles that need fostering? I am just new to the site so will investigate..thanks, the response has been so heartwarming!
There are pictures on the main page of the adoptable dogs who are with IDOG and the DRC; there are none that need fosters, these are dogs who already have fosters and are available for adoption. Occasionally someone will post a discussion of a dog who is in danger in a shelter or unsuitable home situation and needs a foster home, but that's a case by case basis. None of this involves direct rehoming from an owner to an adopter; it is all done through the rescues, and to foster, you must first apply and be approved as a foster home by the rescue group.
There is a doggie on IDOG called Mustard that Diana told me about..filled out a long application and waiting to hear from them. Thanks.
Lynn -- It can sometimes take a little while for them to weed through all the applications so don't get discouraged and also keep looking at all of the other sources. Don't get your heart set on one particular doodle and sit and hope for that particular one. They also like to assess the dog when they bring them into the program. Particularly when they come out of a shelter. It takes the dog a little while to settle into their foster home and let their personality come out. Some that I had never barked for two weeks, then they would find their voice. Also, be thorough on the application. The more information the better. They are asking those questions for a reason. Every doodle that comes into the program has different needs and they are going to be determining what those needs are and which home will best meet those needs. Good luck in your search.
Thanks for the words...I am just realizing this..that is good..they are looking out for the dogs.
Hi Lynn. Good luck on your search for a doodle! This doodle was talked about a few days ago in a different discussion. Not sure if he would be a good fit for you but you could call the shelter and find out. The listing doesn't say if he is housetrained. It does say that he didn't get along with other dogs at first, but the poor guy was only given an hour or two before they took him back. Not sure how he would do with a cat. http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/24324339
Thank you so much Diana..really appreciate your note..I will certainly follow up...it sounded like it was the same person who put him in for vacation relief that put him back..how odd..people are the worst ...it is embarrassing how ugly people can be towards our furry soulmates.
Hi, I found out Mustard is in rescue and fine...he is not available until they know the best home for him.
Welcome to DK and I hope you find a doodle that fits you and your kitty. There are so many out there that need a home and love you just have to watch for them and of course check daily here on DK for the doodles available in your area. They are awesome dogs and I could not imagine life without mine :)
I know..I just stop every dog and doodle on the street..people must think I am literally part doodle! Okay..great ideas..Yes, need to consider every option...and fostering may be a great option and get my cat used to a shorter term situation but I know I will get attached..how do folks handle that..especially the rescue people..must be hard.
Lynn when you come to love and be attached to the dog you foster that's when you become a foster failure. :>) Being a foster failure is a good thing it means you love them too much to give them up and they become a permanent member of your family. Good luck with you search. Karen has already given you links to the best resources.
