No, it is not fenced in but it is very deep. The doodles stay near the other doodles and people. They are not really allowed to be off leash but the most we've had is a warning from a ranger riding by.

Id love to get Dexter out on the beach. I can't remember if sandy hook allows dogs starting Labor Day or October 1? I'll do some investigating :)

Took Maggie for a bike ride to the Manasquan dog beach this morning and it was a perfect morning. Water was beautiful and not too crowded. I was really surprised (even though I probably shouldn't be) how many dogs were off leash when the large sign clearly stated that all dogs must be leashed. I put Maggie on a 20 ft leash and it was perfect for her to run and play and not worry.

Leslie, some of us were hoping to do a romp at Sandy Hook on September 15th...if dogs allowed after Labor Day.  Can you let us know what you find out?

According to this Labor Day opens up the ocean side beaches to dogs.

I really like sandy hook because of how far from a road we are. Ocean grove is fine but I always get a little nervous if a dog were to wander,
