Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I haven't been on this site for awhile so I thought I would give it a try. We have two doodles. We have Bailey who is 5 years old and is a goldendoodle and we have Logan who is 3 and he is a Labradoodle. Bailey has allergy issues with a lot of things but mainly it is with carbs. He became very yeasty many ear infections darkened groin and little sores on his back. The vets really couldn't help, their solutions were antibiotics and steroids. This we will never do since it starts you in the endless cycle of yeast growth which is what we found to be the real problem.

He is free of yeast today and has been for 2 years now. We have a holistic vet and we treat and care for our dogs holistically. We follow parts of the regiment that applies to our dogs.

Send me  line either here or to my email at gregmpyles@msn.com and I will be happy to help you.

I started watching and was nodding my head to plausible info until we hit the food talk.  Then she lost me.

Since we started doing that F..knock wood jack hasn't had. One eat infection...... We use an acidic ear cleaners, best thing ever!

Jennifer, what is the brand of ear cleaner you use on Jack.  I would like to try it on Beau.  The vet gave us Posatek and now I am to clean his ears with Malacetic Ultra Otic Cleaner which I get from the vet.

I will check later but I think I use Malacetic Otic, which I get on Amazon.

Thanks, F.

Yes, Malacetic Otic by DermaPet. No ultra in the name of the one I use.

I always had good luck with Vir-bac's Epi-Otic with my poodles (JD doesn't have poodle ears or need much ear cleaning), but I'm not sure if it's still on the market.

We use the Vir-bacs too! I believe ours came from the vet as i am pretty sure not positive that we never put anything in their ears that didn't come from vet!!

Yes we do also we make our own. We use it as a maintenance item. What is yours made of? Just asking

I agree with you 100% the issue is that carbs turn into sugar which feeds the yeast in your body. So the more carbs in the diet for our dog is a bod thing. We make his food and give him supplements. He has been on this diet for two years now with our vets blessing and he is very healthy now. No carbs in his diet, very frustrating thing to manage as you know. I sincerely hope you are doing fine.
