Our puppy is seven months and has always had regular healthy stools. We went away for a week and left him with another family. He seemed fine when he returned but within a day he started having soft light brown stools. He vomited twice in two days but hasn’t done that in a week. He has had these soft stools for a little over a week. We took him to the vet last Friday and they did a sample and tested it in the office ( only took a few minutes so not sure what test they did). THey said it was negative for worms and parasites. They sent us home with pro-pectalin for the diarrhea. He took that for three days with no change. Yesterday I started him on chicken and rice and it seems to be helping a little but the stools are still soft. He acts fine and has his usual energy level. I’m not sure if I should call vet and ask them to do another fecal test, or ask them to do an X-ray for a foreign body ( he is a puppy and tries to eat everything!). Anyone else have this with their doodle? I am concerned and not sure how serious this could be or if I am overreacting.

I'm sure that some dogs are more susceptible to immune-mediated issues than others. JD was.

I seem to be throwing away stuffed toys on a regular basis here, lol. Jasper never tore up his toys as a puppy, but he's now making up for lost time. :(

Riley basically can't have stuffies anymore...she gets them de-fluffed in under 30 seconds lol.

Jasper is just using his hunter instincts!

Okay, you guys get to be the mean moms now.  My boys get stuffies. Clancy de-squeaks them immediately and they all de-stuff them in the next few days. They love tearing the stitches out one by one.   We throw away the clouds of cottony innards, and the boys happily carry the carcasses around for the next few months.  Our house is littered with 'rags' :-}

And that would be fine with me...except that Jasper eats the carcasses. :(

Hahahahahaha.

I'm trying an experiment to see if Riley will try to eat the carcass :p so far just de-fluffing.

Hahahaha!  Exactly what our house looks like. :-}

Update on n Taco. The wellness LI turkey along with daily probiotics has finally given us healthy stools! We are officially off the chicken and rice! Thanks for all the advice!

I'm so glad. Thank you for letting us know.

Continue the probiotics for at least a month, and don't introduce any new foods, treats, snacks, etc. for at least that long. :)

I'm so glad for Taco and for you.
