Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hi All, We are planning to add a labradoodle to our family, this will be our first dog. We are looking for bringing the dog during summer time. We had waited for quite sometime before arriving at this decision as we wanted our kids to be more grown up before we take on more responsibility. I would like to work with a reputable breeder or an independent family to get a puppy. We have been researching for couple of months and its difficult at times to make it out whether a particular breeder a conscious breeder and not something who is out there to make a quick buck. Please reply to my email address if you have any recommendations. Also we would like to hook up if other owners if there is a dog romp in bay area.
Thanks
Raj

Kristin Hotti at Golden Gate is excellent as is Kiley deMond at Harmony. I would not overlook Barbara Schwab at BearRiver doodles. Barbara will talk your ear off but she is one of the most conscientious breeders in this area. Her heart is pure gold and she is very knowledgeable!! She donates many of her pups to service organizations. Barbara works very closely with Gen and Terry at Sierra Vista and they often "trade" dogs.
If you want to go out of state, I think that the best breeder in the USA right now is Rochelle Woods at Spring Creek Labradoodles. She has pups available right now. My Ozzie is from Spring Creek and I have recommended many people to her, some have bought pups, and none have been disappointed.
Also in Oregon is Tualatin River Labradoodles (Judy Albertson). Excellent breeder as well.
The advantage of the Oregon pups is that they are slightly less expensive than Bay Area doodles since there is no sales tax in Oregon. Adding nearly 10% to the price of an already expensive doodle does add up. It's an easy trip to Oregon for pup pickup if you go that route. Alternatively, one can fly up and personally bring pup back in cabin!
We will be having a romp in late April or early May to benefit IDOG. Kiley and Kristin generally show up. The romp is in San Jose at Heller Park. Will post notice on Doodle Kisses.
Hi Lucy,
We live 10 mins from Heller Park in Silver creek area in San Jose and it will be great to attend the ROMP. I have two kids (Boy 13.5 yr and Girl 10.5 yr old), my son is a high functioning Autistic kid, who is extremely friendly, sensitive and bright boy. He has been wanting a dog for the longest time and its also supposed to be very good for Autistic kids. My daughter is a typical kid and loves dogs. We have been pushing out getting a pup for a long time but now feel like its appropriate time for us to get one. We are planning for a summer time as that will give us more time to get the dog acclimatized to our house and trained. We want to get a smaller size labradoodle and my kids want an Apricot or Red colored.
We have a fenced house and a decent backyard, plus we live close to multiple parks so the dog will have enough places to go and play.
I really appreciate all your replies, will definitely check out BearRiver doodle and also breeders in OR. I don't have any problems in flying or driving down.
Look forward to the update on the ROMP.
Thanks again.

Have you looked into ASD Companion Labradoodles? The breeder has autistic children which is how she got into breeding companions for her children. I don't know much about the breeder, but I really like her philosophy in breeding dogs and she was very responsive when I was looking for a puppy a few years ago.
This might help you choose a breeder once you get some referrals. http://www.doodlekisses.com/notes/What_To_Look_for_In_a_Breeder
Darby Park Doodles in Brentwood, CA - located about 45 minutes east of San Francisco. Melinda usually has cockapoos and small to medium labradoodles. We just had a doodle romp here in SF, will keep you posted on the next one. Kooper is fantastic with people w physical and mental challenges and so it Sparky Yang who also came from Darby Park. Send me a private message if you want more information. Darby Park Doodles has a Facebook page too.

There is a litter w mini labradoodles coming avail in May
Thanks for the reply, I have not seen goldendoodles except photo's on the web. So far our exposure to the doodle family has been labradoodle as our friends in east coast have one. I will do some more reading on goldendoodles to understand the differences and see which dog meets our needs best. We will not be able to get a bigger dog and want more a smaller size dog.

Thanks Chris, i have received multiple positive feedback for Golden Gate Labradoodles. We will being our search soon and will keep everyone posted. We would love to meet other owners at a local dog romp as I am very curious to find out how a miniature labradoodle looks like from size perspective.

Hi,
You have already received some great recommendations here and I would not fault any of them. I have talked to all those breeders during my search and I would choose any of them in the right circumstance. I am picking up my Australian puppy from Kavitha @ Catherine Manor next week. While she is a new breeder, her breeding stock comes from very long time reputed breeders around the country and being new she is willing to go the extra mile and much more. She has red small medium puppy (20~30 lb range) Message me and I will give you some additional information.
Thanks
Raj
Raj, Congrats on finding your new little one.
