Where are you right now, Sonja? There will be a doodle romp at Arbor Dog Park in Seal Beach, California. Ned and Maizy seemed to hit it off when you attended before. If you are going to be around, let me know and I will give you the details.

Well, if you are going to be in San Luis Obispo, you just need to come a little further north to the Monterey area. This is an excellent area for biking and doodling, lots of parks, and the best "dog beach" anywhere that I have seen. I also retired last year, and my husband has been retired for six years, but we find plenty to keep us busy. My dogs are too big for a burley, but they have been trained since puppies to following me on my mountain bike. They are good for about 5 - 7 miles and then Hondo (older) poops out. My husband usually rides about 14 - 17 miles (mountain biking at the old Ft. Ord). I have a big family party on October 11 (my mother's 93rd birthday) and when all the guests leave we will be pretty free until we go to Arizona about the middle of November. We would love to have some biking, doodle friends from Alaska come to visit.

Oh, I think we have a lot in common, but Alaska to Arizona is way beyond my imagination. Where do you winter in Arizona? We are headed to Yuma in November to spend Thanksgiving with my husband's family. I only do Arizona from Nov. to April. Other than that it is way toooooo hot for me. We live in the perfect climate (Central Coast of California) and hate to leave home. My husband is a biker (prefers mountain bikes) and this area is super for that also. If you come out this way, look us up. We are both retired, but active and love, love, love our doodles.
Our Doodle Max is almost 18 months old. He was a birthday present to my adult daughter who lives with me. He is extremely smart but has the Lab puppie syndrome. He recently took up electrical cords as his chew toy of choice. I'd love to take a more recent picture for showing off but he's camera shy. Can't even catch him on a cell phone camera. Anyway we travel alot but not with pets. Max stays at home with "mama" and gets spoiled rotten!
Thanks for the info Sonja. Yes, I would love to meet your doodle! I'm wanting a standard size, because until I got the little mutt dog I have now, I've only owned bigger dogs. The fact that they don't shed (as much) is a plus. My friend has had a standard poodle that is 13 & he is just a wonderful dog. My Father raised Labrador's when I was a child & so the combination of the two just excites me! I live on the North side of Fairbanks on the Elliott Hwy., with few neighbors. I do a lot of 'dog sitting' & am currently away from my home. If you come into town, please call me at work - 451-2853. I would love to meet you & your dog(s). Thanks again for the feedback.
Do you know of any Fairbanks kennels? If not, are there any kennels here in AK? I'm really wanting to look at getting a labradoodle & your input would be helpful. Thank you! Kate
Absolutely she fits the name crazy mayzie....she is 8 mos old and into everything. She loves my kids and is way too overjoyed when company visits...a problem we are working on. She is a small/medium size, 25 lbs and i can't imagine her at 80 lbs!!! She would be a bull in a china shop!!
Sonja~
Thanks for all the help with how to get Kai started in the bike trailer. How big is Maizy? Kai is a medium and will get to be around 30-40 pounds. Just wondering how much weight the trailer will take. ;-) Thanks!!! K, K & K
