Previously we had a dog we rescued and a 13 year old cat. They both passed away within a year of eachother, such heartbreak. For 3 months, no pets. Then, last kid goes to college.....who to care for now? A friend who works at local vet office calls and says a family is looking for a good home for a 6 month old Labradoodle. We called and went to meet the dog; I fell in love. My husband calls him 'my boyfriend' :o)
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
We have 1 labradoodle who came with the name Max. He is big, (50 pounds at 7 months) somewhat uncoordinated, (making us laugh a lot) super gentle & loving.
2/1/14: Max has 'maxed out' at 65 pounds.
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Rehome
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
One look at him and that was it. He was calm, friendly and great with grandkids. Not to mention....adorable.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
Swim! He loves it. Loves to play fetch with tennis ball, Frisbee and especially likes the glow ball after dark! He just really wants to be where his 'people' are.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
Nope!
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
Jen at Magnolia's, Whitehall, MI
Relationship Status:
Married
Would you be willing to Dog Sit on occasion for other DoodleKisses members? (You are NOT committing to anything by saying yes - you are just saying you might be willing to do this if you were acquainted with the other member and the circumstances were right.)
Max is adorable, such a sweet face- really does look like (and sounds like) he and Rosy are related...fetch, watching tv, beautiful amber eyes, and GOOFY!
We do have some problems with matting too. We are at the lake every weekend and they do get wet. I keep our dogs hair a little shorter (less than 2 inches) in the summer and have them groomed at least once a month. I have to brush their face, ears and tail several times a week to keep it from matting too bad. I love the look of their hair when it is longer but I don't like to do a lot of brushing. We let it grow a little longer in the winter.
I know your doodle loves living on the lake. Our doodles are so excited to go every weekend. Good luck with the grooming.
Hi Rhonda! OMD Max and Libby do look a lot alike, their eyes, their coloring and their fur. Libby's fur matted a little when her coat was changing at about nine months or so. Our groomer would only cut the area down that was matted. She matted in the area under her ears and a little and on her chest by her legs, but nothing major. Once her new coat came in she does not mat at all. I would say she is soft fur with a little wavy fleece in her. We do not use a conditioner on her because we very seldom bathe her unless she decides to play in mud, etc, then we hose her down. LOL She goes to the groomer every three weeks. OMGosh if a groomer ever shaved her down I would be "crazy" to say the least. I did make it clear to my groomer the first time I went in she was NOT to shave her for any reason. Your pictures of Max are great and he is sooooooo beautiful. How fortunate for you and Max you connected! Aren't they the best dogs ever and so loving, corny, fun, and about the smartest dog we have ever had! Do you know what breeder she came from, they sooo look alike. Libby came from a breeder in Gig Harbor, Washington.
Thank you for the compliments on Pebbles, and my non doodle Mitzie. How wonderful that you rehomed. What a lucky find for you, Max is adorable! Margaret, Pebbles and Mitzie
