I usually look at the new members as I am in the Welcome Group. Ace caught my eye as he looks like such a happy boy! We had a very smart black standard poodle for years and I just loved to watch him run. He passed away before Christmas 2010, and we were devastated. I started searching for low shedding poodle mixes and came upon the Australian Labradoodle. I caledl a breeder here in Washington state just to talk about this breed and she offered to send me some photos and information. This was only 4 weeks after Wilbur had passed. My husband was so against getting another dog right away because he was grieving so, but I just could not be without one - the hole in my heart was huge. She sent me a photo of a recent litter and there was one male whose face I fell in love with. When I emailed her back to find out more about the lines of the puppies, she mentioned that they were born Dec 18th and that was the day Wilbur passed. I just felt it was meant to be. She also told me that we could not pick our own puppy as they used Bio sensor testing on puppies at 7 wks old and then decided what family they should go to. I put a deposit down anyway. I told my husband that if that puppy was not chosen for us, we could then move on to another litter in the future and he agreed. At 7.5 weeks, I received an email from her with the puppy who was chosen for us. It was Charlie Brown! He is my heart dog for sure. He is a little "old soul" - his eyes look right into you. 1.5 yrs later we got Beau from same breeder and he is a joker. He makes us laugh every day - but truly he is not the brightest bulb on the block but we do not care. Welcome to DK, I hope you will join some groups and enjoy this site. I do not know if you have an interest in photography, but if you do you should join as it is very active.
