Hi Arlene ~ I am so sorry to hear of your loss. We lost our standard poodle to an auto immune disorder also but about 3 years ago. They are never with us long enough and when they do go, it is heartbreaking to say the least. After our loss, I started researching Australian Labradoodles and I found Charlie's litter which had been born on the day we lost our standard poodle. It just seemed to us it was meant to be. We then got a second doodle (Beau) who is now 15 mos. We are also in our 60s, and I our ALDs are not super active. Actually Charlie does not really go on walks, as he would rather watch tv! LOL I make him go with Beau and me for 30 minutes each day. Both of our boys love playing ball and they are so much fun. Good luck in finding the doodle that will fit with your family life.
