SoCal doodles and parents venture down to San Diego for a day of fun on Ocean Beach Dog Beach. Free Parking
This is a road trip for most so times are tentative seems most are driving from a distance, including us.
For those interested after playing on the beach we can all go out for lunch together with the doodles.
Overnight stay optional. There are several campgrounds along with dog friendly motels/hotels in the local area. KOA campground is our favorite in Chula Vista (accomodates; tents, RVs, and offers 1-2 room cabins)
Tons of dog friendly beaches and parks for the fourlegged loved ones if you want to make it a weekend.

Thank you, Jolene! I love camping, but for just 1 night I don't want to pack everything. So I'll go for the motel. :-)
Helga, here's a hotel listing from a local san diego website; http://www.sdhappydogs.com/business-directory-2/wpbdm-category/hotels/
and I always look through this for places. This is where we found our vacation spot in Oregon recently; http://www.bringfido.com/
If you are into camping the KOA campground is wonderful. They do have camping cabins but you'd have to check with them for dog friendly ones. We have both an RV and like to tent camp. The KOA is really close and has a small dog park on the property. http://koa.com/campgrounds/san-diego/
There is a small motel just outside the parking lot at Ocean Dog Beach, I know others who have stayed and said it was nice but they were kinda pricey for me? If you google motels near ocean dog beach it may pop up unless Nancie remembers the name? Sorry, good luck.
Too bad! I can't make it after all. My daughter has a choir concert that night. I was looking forward to the camping and everything :(
Sounds like a fun weekend adventure. We will be keeping warm in Palm Springs that week so will be unable to join you.
We usually walk the beach to the channel. I think Nancie mentioned fewer crowds in channel and some spots are shallow for dogs who aren't to sure about swimming?
Beach or channel?
