Precious. This makes me cry! I think it would be neat to have printed and framed & hung on the wall. It also makes me especially sad to read the last one. When you first get a puppy, that is the one thing you don't really want to think about because the time always seems so far off. I agree with being right by your baby's side. Even if it hurts worse than anything in the world for you, you have to remember it is not about you - it's for them. I held my last dog, Ruby, while she went through that. I try not to think about that moment very often. I sure wish they could find a way to make our dogs live longer!
Traci - I am going to print them out and frame them. This also reminds me of the "Dog's Prayer" that one makes me cry too!!!
I don't know whether its true or not but when I was putting one of my Shih Tzu's down many years ago, the vet told me to keep on talking to her.... she can still hear you until the last beat of her heart. I alwasy tell everyone who has to go thru putting a beloved pet down to please stay with them, comfort them... they were there for you when you needed them now its pay-back time !!! So many people say "I can't handle that " I say well this is not about YOU now - its about THEM... I have even stood in for people/family when they had to put their pet down and could not go in the room. I am such a firm believer that a pet needs someone there that they know and love with them - is it difficult.... heck yeah... but I put my feelings aside and only think what is best for the pet !!!
ooohhh, how sweet. I want to go home to my doodles. I wish I could spend every moment with them.
That is so gorgeous, very poignant and true. My last dog a Maltese terrier called Rosie was 18 years old, deaf and blind when we made that oh so hard decision. Rosie was always afraid in the vet clinic so her favorite vet very kindly came to our home and with all of us around her while she was in her favorite comfy spot on her couch we let her go. There was no pain or fear and we were all with her at the end.
