Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We have noticed that, lately, Doodles are appearing more and more often in magazine ads and on television commercials. This seems only natural. If the attention our Holly gets when we walk her is any indication; people just love the looks of Doodles. Here is a “Fabrese” ad which Judy clipped out from a ladies magazine because she wants to clip Holly like that for her winter coat.
Let’s hear about some other Doodles you have seen in ads or on TV!

This ad for "Spotbot" has a dog that could be a doodle, I'm not sure. Also there were Target ads that came in the mail last year that had a dog that looked a lot like a labradoodle. Also, here is a link to a professional doodle model with pictures of where he has appeared: http://www.bocker.tv/career.htm

Bocker's owner is a member of this site...if you go to the Members section and search for Marie Shelto you'll find her =)
When we consider what happened to Dalmatians as a breed thanks to Disney, and the way American cocker spaniels were almost entirely ruined thanks to (Disney again) Lady & the Tramp, perhaps it is a good thing that they are being portrayed as smelly, messy, etc.
The more popular a breed becomes, the worse it is for that breed. Everybody wants to jump on the bandwagon. ("Hey, Mabel, did you hear about these new dogs, lab-a-doodles?") The mills go crazy churning them out, everyone and their cousin becomes a "breeder", and the quality, temperament, & health of the dogs goes down. We are already seeing more than a 100% increase in doodles in shelters & rescue groups in the last 6 months alone.
It IS cute to see them in the ads, but I sure hope we don't see too many.
That statistic is interesting! Is there a website that lists such stats?
Hi Adina:
I don't know if there's actually an official statistic on doodles, I am basing it on the numbers of doodles of which I have knowledge listed or placed within that period through IDOG and some of the other rescues like Carolina Poodle Rescue which also handles doodles; it is probably not 100% accurate. I do know that some of the AKC breed clubs do keep actual records as far as such things are possible. It would be nice if there WAS a way to know for sure. (Sorry, Richard, didn't mean to hijack your discussion...I'll hush up now!)
The Swiffer ad (which I can't find for the life of me) with a dog that looks like it's shaved like a lion and a ralph lauren ad too...again don't have copies of either...also feature doodles.
Hey Adina ~
They got that look (Swiffer) with - are you ready? Pantyhose! Too funny! Maybe you already knew, I thought it was hilarious when I read it.
Yeah I'd heard...was trying to figure out a way to do that to Rosco for Halloween so I don't have to shave him down to look like a lion...hmmm...
There was an ad on TV tonight from Best Buy and I'm not sure what kind of dog it was. It looked like a labradoodle. Anyone have a guess?
Crockett is a beauty!...She has had WAAAAAY too much plastic surgery......
I saw this add today at work, I of course said "OH look it's a Goldendoodle."
(My co-workers put up with a lot from me.)
Karen and Jack I agree with you 100%.
