Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Anyone have info on how F1B doodles change in appearance? Such as in the face. I like the square look of the F1 goldendoodles and when researching, I find several breeders that cross back to poodles. Does that give the puppies a more longer thinner face? I am learning all I can before deciding on our new puppy, so I appreciate any input. Thanks, Sue

I think there is a higher chance of longer thinner face...but not necessarily. Also with all their fur their faces may look quite wide!

Here's a link to some F1b photos:

Moss Creek Goldendoodles breeds F1bs and they have a group here.
Also our member Marina's page...click here to see her page. You might visit their group and click on the group members to see who has F1bs
Our older Goldendoodle, Rozee, is F1 and is much more a combo with the square look, very wonderful fleece coat, no shedding. Bella is F1B and is so much poodle....longer thinner face, curly poodle coat, etc. You can check out their pictures and really see the difference. We love Bella to death but if we had it to do over we'd get another F1. Bella is much more difficult to groom and isn't nearly as "calm" as Rozee. Just my thoughts.................

I have an f1b and she has more of the square face. She is a great mixture of both breeds. This pic was taken a few months ago and now her faces is even broader:)
You really got lucky with her...she has that F1 face that I love in the doodles. I think a lot of the F1B's look more "poodle-y". I find that the mini's also have more of a poodle face, probably because the mini poodles have smaller, more pointed muzzles & noses than the standard poodles.
What an adorable face!
I think F1 goldendoodles tend to look more poodley in general (compared to F1 labradoodles)...so throw an extra poodle in there and higher chance of a poodle-like look. My evidence is PURELY anectodal/observational and may not be a true representation of things...
I had been wondering the same thing. I did a google image search of "F1b Goldendoodle" and found many pictures...some with a poodle-like face and others with not so poodle-like face. Guess it just depends...but you may want to do the Google image search. It's helpful and it's fun to look at all the cute doodles!!
I have a F1 labradoodle. Her mom was a lab and father poodle. The labs face was not a square nose and the standard poodle of course had a pointed nose. Her picture is shown and I also have two other pictures. Its just the luck of the draw with F1's. Her coat is very long and curley, she actually looks like a multi-gen labradoodle. On the other hand her brother looks totally different. He doesn't have square nose and his hair is smooth, coarse and not curley. I had pick of the litter and picked the hairiest female we had. Good luck! Just remember you'll love it regardless just keep your fingers crossed.
I forgot to tell you that in the pictures of her she is shaved for the summer. Her hair is very long when not groomed.
Samson is an F1 and we couldn't be happier with him. We intended to get another F1, but at the Paw Pad, found F1b's that looked just like the F1s without the shedding. I have found that different breeders have F1bs that look very different. Do a lot of research and look at a lot of pictures of the puppies that the set of parents produces. We are getting an F1b with a straight coat that looks much like an F1. Another breeder who has F1 looking F1bs in Del Frunessa. Good luck!!
I forgot to mention, the breeder can usually look at the pups and tell what kind of coat they will have and if they have more poodle traits.
