It's not what they know...

Sure... she knows to Sit, Stay and Come
Also Down, Rollover and Speak
She even knows to Catch, Back-up and High Fives
She knows when I am sad or need a kiss and hug
All the cool emotional things that doodles just know
Sometimes I swear she even knows what time it is

So, In turn I feed her good food
Take her swimming at the lake
Go for long walks with her
Play fetch with her til I'm bored to death
I bring her with me for car rides
And give her warm baths to make her smell nice.

But the best thing about my doodle isn't what she knows but rather
what she doesn't know.

She doesn't know what starvation or abuse is
Doesn't know anything about mortgage or insurance
She doesn't know what war or genocide is
Or how to worry about the economy
She doesn't know how to wonder why corporations are greedy.
And she doesn't know about politics or who would make a better candidate.

That is why I hug her
I squeeze her
I rub her ears
I wrestle with her
I pet and kiss her
That is why I simply LOVE her

I've been told "it's just a dog" and my response is
"NO...she's a doodle and my best friend"

Gosh I hate to start my day off crying, but they are happy tears!!! Belinda, that was great!! And oh, so true, after the loss of our beloved Sandy (lab X), I never thought I could love another dog, but I love Noel so much - I just can't get enough of her. Thank you for those nice cheerful positive thoughts today in these yucky trying days of war, economic mess, messy politics, etc...
