Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello all!

So our little Marley is growing up and shedding like CRAZY! I wanted to know if anyone had a good suggestion to help reduce the shedding as it is driving me and my husband a bit crazy. She is an F1 (I think) -- her dad is the poodle and her mom is the retriever but she looks more like a retriever. Anyway -- any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I just want to comment that my labradoodle shed quite a bit between 8 and 12 months as she lost her "puppy coat". She doesn't shed much now. By the way, Marley is adorable--you'll just have to put up with the shedding as a trade-off for the cuteness!
Little Marley is adorable, and looks very much like my Lilo when she was that age. She too lost her puppy hair, and went from shaggy to curly! You can see the before and after pictures in the F1 group here:

Note though, that excessive shedding can sometimes be due to allergies or feeding a low quality food.
Hmm that is interesting comment because our vet is potentially going to have us switch foods due to some eye issues. I think I am going to get the FURminator for now but any other advice is greatly appreciated!
Just be really careful with the furminator; Marley probably doesn't have an undercoat, so you're going straight down to her skin. A regular brush should do the trick, I'd think? What type of food are you currently feeding Marley, and why specifically does the vet want to change it? Maybe there's a correlation.

Another suggestion: take her to a professional groomer for a hair evaluation.
We are feeding her Earthblend dog food -- recommended from the place where we bought her.
