Hi everyone:
I have several people who are looking for rescues in the Calif. area. I also have several people with special needs kids who are looking for pups or older dogs for their kids. I don't have anything right now but please e mail me if you have any. Thanks, Sueg.
I am sure that you know this but, www.petfinder.com is a great site for rescues. There are multiple rescue organizations advertising their animals on this site. Unfortunately, you cannot search for a Doodle directly; you have to enter Poodle or Standard Poodle and scroll down through the entries to find a Doodle. There seem to be quite a few Standard Labradoodles available at the Mill Dog Rescue Network, Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The Dang Gang gang has placed 128 Labradoodles from a breeder (puppy mill?) that passed away. All of them are placed and no more available.
The breeder from which I bought our Goldendoodle, Holly, also occasionally donates Labradoodles and Goldendoodles as service dogs. However, Heather is located north of Dallas, TX.
"We are now accepting applications for families requesting donation puppies.
We ask that families with medical problems, disabilities or other special needs, and are without the means to purchase a puppy, fill out a puppy application to formally request a donation puppy. Documentation of medical or special needs and references, may be requested by Cheyenne valley to verify eligibility.
We will provide up to two donation puppies per litter. We cannot guarantee coat color of puppy, but will guarantee non-shedding for families with allergies."
Best of luck in your search. I will let you know of any Doodles up for rescue which I come across.
Somewhere in northern or central cali there are 35 (most have found homes) puppy mill doodles recently rescued. Gorgeous dogs! So do what Richard suggests and tell them to search www.petfinder.com and put in their zip code and "Standard Poodle" and they are very likely to find mixes. Also www.IDOG.biz -- if they don't find a doodle via petfinder...encourage them to sign up with IDOG.biz because they will get put on a list and when a doodle near them pops up that is in IDOG rescue (they have rescue all over the USA) they will be notified! You can't do better than IDOG -- they are great at matching dogs to families for a good fit! They can email rescue@IDOG.biz
