Hey cute puppy:) Our Murphy was under a year old last winter, but we left his coat a little longer, but not to the point where it was a pain to take care of. We live in MI. so I know all about the cold and snow.... You might want to buy a sweater for him when you go walking so he stays warmer:) They also sell well it's like a boot for your dog, so they don't get all that salt in their pad when your walking them. I almost bought them last year but I never got around to it so can't tell ya how they work.
Hi Barb Your Murphy is also pretty darn cute Where would I look for a sweater any suggestions how old is your Murphy?
thanks:) Murphy is 15 months old!! If you go to google and type in Foster and Smith their site will come up, they have dog sweater's and dog sweatshirts that are really neat, I'm thinking about getting one for Murph for this winter! They also have the dog boots to:) Don't forget to sign up for your FREE catalog I did that now I get one all the time, hope this helps:) Let me know if you like the site......
Rosco stays pretty much full length in the winter, but he doesn't have a terribly thick coat and is always hot either way.

But I do continue to trim around his face, under his ear flaps, under his tail (to keep dingle berries from forming) and under his paws.
We leave Casey a bit longer in winter - I like the way he looks with a longer coat, anyway! He definitely prefers to be shorter in summer, though.

We're in Minnesota. Casey's coat is so thick, he's fine in virtually any weather!
