Has anybody used the "Pedipaws", or "Peticure" nail trimmer that is sold all over the internet...? Does it work..? Is it worth the money...? Seems like a "gentle" alternative to the basic nail clipper....help...my wood floors are suffering...!
Great question ... I was thinking of it again today. Jezzy doesn't care to hold hands with strangers to get a good manicure and I thought it that thing was even half as good as they claim it might be worth it. I hope we get some responses!!
I have one but still getting my dogs used to it. My sister uses it on her dogs and they like it.
I do wish it was faster. My sister has a "real" dremal that she uses. My is for pets and it is slower.
Someone posted about this before and there was a link to a video or a guide on how to do it.
I found that helpful.
I use a regular dremel--something similar to the mini-mite cordless (from Wal Mart). I LOOOVE it because Rosco tolerates it...which is more than I can say for the nail CLIPPER. Plus you don't risk cutting the quick.
The benefit of the Pedipaws or Peticure is that there is a cover on it that prevents paw fur from getting caught in the dremel and it keeps more of that nasty nail dust from flying up at you as you dremel away...that is the only annoying part: the nail dust. My dremel was about $20 and the Peticure and other specialized ones are pricier.
I'm a big fan of dremeling nails. Click here for a great tutorial!
Read the tutorial and plan to take about 2 weeks before actually dremeling a paw full =) Better to take longer and ensure they consider it a GOOD thing rather than have to fight about it. Rosco now sees the dremel and follows me wherever I go with it =)
We bought a cordless Dremel for about $35 at Lowes and we really like it! Both boys didn't like having their nails cut so we thought we'd give it a try. I went slow, let them listen to it and sniff it and watch me give myself a pedicure :) and then only did several nail at a time. Also gave plenty of treats! They don't seem to mind it and it works great on your feet!
I also have a toe nail trimmer Dremel, but have been sort of hesitant to use it.....the PediPaws looks much easier, and safer..! They don't cost much....so, may be worth a try.
