Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi - I just happened to be looking in the "pets" section of the Boston Craigslist, and noticed that someone is looking to re-home their 2 1/2 yr old Goldendoodle. I e-mailed them and told them about DoodleKisses in hopes that someone who has room for another Doodle, knows someone who wants one, etc can help, but I just fear that someone on Craigslist will see the ad and just say "oh, a cute dog... I'll take it" not really knowing anything about a Doodle! You can find the ad at www.boston.craigslist.org

Great idea. Even better--write them again with the DRC address. www.doodlerescuecollective.ning.com

DRC's entire website deals with rehoming and rescuing doodles and they do great work.
People who post their dogs on Craig's List are selling their dogs. True "rehoming" is done through a reputable, not-for-profit rescue group or private no-kill shelter. The kindest thing anyone can do for a dog who is posted for sale on Craig's List is to contact the owner and advise them that this is not in the best interests of the dog...unscrupulous people may purchase the dog to use as bait for dog-fighting, resell them to labs for experimentation, or breed them if they aren't spayed/neutered. Advise the poster to contact the DRC, IDOG, or a rescue group in their own area for assistance in rehoming.
Anyone who is interested in buying a dog through Craig's List should also understand that the dog most likely came from a pet store/puppy mill, since responsible breeders take their dogs back in cases where the owners can no longer keep them. In fact, they insist on it in their contracts.
I have been looking on Craigslist Boston and I cannot find the ad for the goldendoodle. I checked under pets, dogs, goldendoodle and doodle but could not find it. I would really like to read the ad and see a picture if one was posted.
It may have been flagged already. That happens a lot when people try to sell dogs on Craig's List.
Just kooked, it is ther, but there are no pictures. The pets are in the upper left side of the page.
Here's the link:

No picture posted, minimal information.
Joanne: I didn't know about the doodle rescue group.... thanks for putting that out there! Craigslist is great for crates (I bought one for Jennings from the site and then donated it to a shelter the same way), but I am sometimes "leery" of dog postings that I see. And when it's for a Doodle, I just wish I had more space, otherwise I would drive the 30 minutes to go an get the poor dog! Woof to you! :)
How thoughtful of you to donate to the shelters. We all can't take dogs in as fosters. Some can foster and some can't, but we help in all kinds of other ways. You just may have helped " in that other way tonight" by emailing and informing that owner how to safely find a good home for their dog. Woof to you too :)
Okay, so now that I think about it, here is a way you can help. Please vote for DRC. It is a contest, ending in December. There are weekly winners and a grand prize winner that will give money to shelters trying to help dogs.

DRC could really use our help and support right now. Especially Now! One Click a Day. That's all. That's It. Thanks so very much.

Here you will need to type in the name of the shelter:

Doodle Rescue Collective
and then select
N.J.

It's fun, it's free, and it will help
Or more clicks if you have other computers you work from!
For some reason we are 'stuck' in 9th position!! Anyone have an idea who to get more DK votes??
Post the link in a discussion that just has it and to "vote" here...then keep bumping it up to the top, kinda like Adina's "read it" post. Have everyone write their animal that day or something. I think if I had the link easier to reach, I would remember to vote daily! (I forget some days). That's my idea!
