I just don't understand people! How can you take a loved member of the family and just abandon her??? What's worse is, they actually listed her for sale! It's that same tired story about having children and not having time to take care of her. Even though the add says she is "extremely low maintenance". I feel so bad for her! If I had the money, I would go and get her myself! She looks absolutely adorable. It just makes me so sad! It's like giving up one of your children!

The DRC sends out countless responses to CL ads. We do get a few responses and those are grateful that they were made aware of what kind of home their doodle could go to. They didn't realize that there are 2 rescues committed to doodles and were quite honestly embarrassed they didn't do research.
But this one doesn't sound like she gives a flying poop where her little dood went. Just was happy with the money. I pray that she is spayed and she went to a home that knows what a precious life they now have.
So sad...
I have got to stop doing this to myself. This woman is evil. Really? If she is so low maintenance then why does she have to go.
I am, once again sick to my stomach.
I am going to take solace in the fact that she was not "free to a good home" and pray someone wonderful bought her.
How sad, I really hope that the person who bought her actually bought her to love as a member of their family. There is a small chance that that is what happened.
Why is she not taking the ad down if the dog is really sold?
She looks like a sweetheart
So sad. I do hope she was purchased by a great family.
I just keep thinking about this poor girl. I know these CL ads happen all the time, but I really hate these claims about family and being too busy. My dogs are part of the family. Man it's a pain in the a*& when Tacky and Peri go on a barking tangent and wake Charlotte JUST as she is getting to sleep. Yes, I will admit I have forgotten to feed them (just a little later than normal) because I have been so busy. But where are they every night? In our bedroom with us, sleeping like...well not a baby in my house...so sleeping like dogs :)
I woke up this morning thinking about her. I emailed them and told them I was interested and they have not responded. If they really sold her, wouldn't they take down the ad?
Lori, I have found that some people don't take their ads down right away. I don't know if people wait to see if the sale actually goes through to delete the ad in case the first person doesn't show up or what...
Wish you could get her...
I know how you feel Lori. I wish we could save them all!
I do too. :-( If it were up to me alone, I would probably have a dozen.
Recently there was a story /warning in my local newspaper It was about a local couple that posted an ad, looking for a new home for their dog. Their toddler child was allergic to it. They found what they thought was a nice new home for her, and gave their beloved pet up for free to a "nice" lady. A couple of days later they found their dog listed on Craig's List for sale. So the couple who originally had the dog, sent some friends to check it out. Sure enough it was their dog! The man confronted the lady who was trying to sell his friends dog, and she was totally shocked to have been caught. The man just walked away with his friends dog, and he ended up keeping it ! The paper was warning about giving your pet away without checking out who you are giving it to.
Read the story on Gracie up for adoption on the front page. Sounds similar. I am so glad the friend got the dog in your story.
