I just got this newsletter and found that most of the vaccines that my dogs get yearly are now recommended to be given every three years. Before my next batch of annual shots I plan to talk to the vet about this. Sadly, the doodles get Lyme vaccines, still a yearly recommendation, next month. My vet's office is not recommending the flu vaccine.

No, she just mentions the 3 yr rabies and the three year DHP, which is what JD got. He got the 3 yr rabies in 2009 so will be due in 2012, and he got the 3 yr DHP in 2011, so will be due for that one again in 2014.
Ethel just got her 3 year DHP and rabies, and Lucy got her 3 year last year.  I love it, less money.

I am so thrilled to hear this.. I skipped Jack's shots that I was able to get titers on. They all proved to be way, way above an acceptable level of coverage.  My vet also said that she does not recommend the flu shot this year, like they have in previous years, Though it is required around here in one of the boarding centers.

I will have Jack titer tested each year.. I am curious what his titers will be at the three year check, if they are still just as high, he won't get them then.. I feel like it is so awesome that enough research has been done to realize that their is not a need to over vaccinate. Vaccinate Yes, just not over...

Jack continues to get his kennel cough q  six months.
