Hi! My (very new) vet, has recommended to me 4 rounds of puppy shots versus 3.........this is something I've never heard of, can anyone point me to a discussion on puppy shots, or lend some advice on 4 rounds versus 3?

Thanks!

I think it equates to what type of shots the vet is giving the puppy.   It depends on what you are treating/preventing.

I always thought it was 4 rounds.... thats what all my puppies have gotten.

Typically 8wks, 12wks, 16wks, 20 wks

My new puppy was started early so she is only 10 weeks and already has 2 sets and the vet said 12 & 16 weeks she will get the rest.

Cool, glad to hear this - Im in the same boat, Georgia is 10weeks and she has already had 2 rounds, so she'll get 3 and 4 on week 12 and 16.  I was just surprised, also - would you recommend going ahead and getting Kennel Cough and Rabies now to be safe?

I do believe you have to wait until a certain age for rabies but I can not remember. I am not sure I have ever done Kennel Couch on my dogs since I never board them or do doggy day care.

My Shelby had four rounds of shots.... the last was a Parvo booster - big problem in our area!
