The number of members in out Photography Group. While I wasn't looking we passed the 500 mark! It keeps me so busy looking at beautiful images it is a good thing I no longer have a full time job. It is the most active group on DK, despite the fact that nobody has to take pictures of their doodles or anything else. Well, maybe they do: )We are very proud of our group.

I have Corel Paint Shop Pro, but I have no idea how to use it. I had an older, simpler version on my old computer and loved it, it was pretty much self-explanatory. With this version, i can't even figure out how to crop. I don't do well with symbols, and there about 500 of them; I want words, lol.

There's also some photo program that came on the computer.

And still, Leslie had to install something else to get the photos from the fancy camera onto the computer.

I do feel badly that JD hardly gets any exposure here on DK, and he is such a handsome guy. I promise to try to do better. :)

I rarely try to find answers in any program or device's help instructions.  I just Google my question--like, 'how do I download photos with Windows 8'?  By the way, try to avoid Windows 8, which was a real shock after the other operating systems I'd become accustomed to using!  F is right about Picasa (sp?)--you can download it easily and do simple fixes easily.  If you already have some photos on your computer, it automatically loads them into itself for your viewing or editing pleasure.  Then just relax and play.  Don't try to edit your favorites, choose some throw away photo and start fooling around with it.  The worst that can happen is that you'll mess it up, but you didn't care much for it in the first place.  :)

Yes, I Google many questions and almost always get a good answer. I am trying to avoid windows 8 and will load 7 if I get a new Apple.
Karen, I think Picasa is all words, like crop, light etc : )

1) you could use a P and S. One of the calendar winners was an iPhone. 2) I got a new car, mine was ten years old, and it has keys 3) iPads are manageable but can be frustrating, I have a mini. Your grandson can explain all 4) Learning all this is good for the neurons as we get a little older : ) But I too have threatened to throw some technological thing out the window at times. And the folks in the PG will help you with the new/old camera. what is it? I still don't know all the terminology. I learn more things all the time about photography. We all do.

Haha, F, sounds very familiar.  We gave away all our old camera stuff to the art department at the college where I take computer classes and they were delighted.  The only thing I ever use these days is my little digital camera.  I am still trying to figure out how to do black and white and color photography at the same time.  My friend does that.  I think I would just use a computer program to change the format after I load the photos on my computer.   Adobe Illustrator?

You can Karen, your camera doesn't have to be uber fancy. I like that you are a basic model kind of gal. Your post gave me a chuckle. I am not great at figuring a lot of instructions and mechanical talk myself. Aaaah to be living in this crazy time of high tech, and fancy wording ! :)

Yep, pretty much sounds like the "age thing".  I am very happy with my little digital elf.  When I ask my son how to do something, he says "just push the buttons".  But he has grown up with computers and data phones and can work them all.  I remember when he was just a little guy and he wanted me to buy him something and I told him I did not have the money.  He said "Go to the wall and get it."  That is still pretty much his idea about money, just go to the wall and get it.  BTW we just got a new keyless car so I will have to learn how to deal with that.  I like the push button starter on it.

I'm with you Karen. I got a "bridge" camera because I thought it would be easier to use and the best of both worlds. As it turns out it is the worst of both worlds. The manual is 147 pages-seriously??? But I did figure out what the "bridge" in the name refers to-after trying to use if for a few days you want to take it to a bridge and throw it off!

Funny gal!

LOL!

LOVE this group!  The whole range of photographers is here, from novice to professional--and all are willing to learn and share and pay it forward.  Hate to ask this, but could you take over the world and fix it along these lines?  Thanks, F!

I have always thought the world needs a benevolent dictator but I am not up to the job : )
