We picked up our 15 month old doodle, Holly today after boarding her for 7 days. Tonight she was doing her own thing while I was vacuuming, when I noticed she had an accident on the carpet. We had not let her outside for around 5 hours, but I know she can hold it for at least 8. I'm wondering why she did this. The kennel we brought her to was very good. They have huge kennels which are half indoor half outdoor, the dogs can come and go as they please. They also let them out in runs multiple times a day and seem very good with the dogs. This is the longest we've ever had to board her, before this the longest had been 2-3 days. I think maybe she was just used to going in her kennel while boarded, but I know she knows better! She also seems a little more jumpy and just kind of off. I guess I'm wondering if anyone's ever had a similar experience and if anyone has any ideas as to why she might have done this. We're keeping a close eye on her since she didn't let us know she had to go out. Thanks in advance!

Aw... I have heard that sometimes that happens when they come home....But maybe just watch her as she may have gotten a UTI????? which may be the reason for the 'accident'.... but other than that ~ How IS HOLLY feeling these days!
How is Holly doing? Any more accidents? Maybe she was just confused and stressed from being boarded. She is still just a puppy and even a nice boarding facility is still not like home or being with her own people. Hope she is doing better!
I have a brother-in-law who's childhood dog would do something like this. Every time they came back from trips, the dog would pee in the house at least a few times. They always assumed it was either some kind of anxiety/excitement to be home, or possibly even a marking territory behavior? I don't know. I hope she is back to her usual self soon!
Thank you guys so much for the encouragement. Holly is doing great, no accidents since this post. I've been so busy I've almost forgot to even check for responses :). Now I may have to do a new post for new advice, she has quit eating her food! Thanks again for the responses, they are truly appreciated!
Glad to hear that at least ONE problem has resolved! Sorry about the eating issue :>(. I hope that goes away just as fast!
