Profile Information

About Me:
My husband Jacob and I are living in Utah, working, going to school and raising Darwin, our F1 Goldendoodle. I love to read, bake, take photos, and spend time with Darwin. I have always loved dogs, and I'm so excited to have one of my own, finally!
What Type of Doodle(s) do you have? What are their names? Tell us about your doodle(s) or any other pets you have!
Darwin is our 9 and a half year old f1 Goldendoodle. He is a standard, and is around 65lbs. He is goofy, adorable, affectionate and has a huge appetite! His idea of a perfect world would be one in which he had unlimited access to cheese...
Where did you get your doodle(s)?
Breeder
Why did you choose a doodle rather than another breed or mix?
I have done years of research on what breed would be right for us. In my search I have always kept good companion at the top of my list. Golden Retrievers and Standard Poodles were both dogs I was considering. When I found the Goldendoodle, I was a bit apprehensive but as I researched them for the next year or so, I fell in love. My husband and I hope when Darwin is full grown we can add a Standard Poodle or another doodle to our family. We are so glad we made the choice to get a doodle. Darwin could not be more perfect.
What are Your Favorite Things to Do With Your Doodles?
We love to take Darwin to our local dog park. It is a nature park, so there are big trails, trees and a stream to play in. He always has a blast and loves to meet new doggie friends. We also enjoy finding fun hikes to go on. He also loves a good nap or a nice cuddle on the couch.
Does your doodle(s) shed?
A little bit but nothing major
Who grooms your doodle(s)?
I do, and if I'm lazy - a local groomer.
Relationship Status:
Married

Another Reminder About Xylitol

Posted on July 29, 2018 at 8:34pm 6 Comments

Hey everyone, long time no see! I just wanted to write because we recently experienced a really big scare in the family and I thought it would be worth posting a reminder.

My sister's 2 year old Maltipoo almost died this last week, after getting into gum inside of her purse while they were asleep. He ate around 15 pieces of the gum - it was Ice Breakers and the first ingredient is xylitol. They rushed him to the emergency vet when they found out what he'd done - and they kept…

Darwin is All Grown Up!

Posted on July 29, 2014 at 12:52pm 38 Comments

Hey all, just wanted to post another photo update of Darwin! He turned 5 in May which is completely crazy to me - I can't believe it's been 5 years! In some ways he still seems so puppyish - as the photos will demonstrate. Yet in other ways he has definitely grown. Here are some of the ways he has changed and the ways he hasn't.

What hasn't changed

-He is still a complete goofball.

-He still loves all people and children.

-He is still treat…

Happy Holidays from Camilla and Darwin!

Posted on December 13, 2013 at 10:00pm 38 Comments

Finals are over, it's getting cold (REAL cold!) and the holidays are here! Things could not be better. I thought I'd post an small update on Darwin, and add our holiday cards for this year.

First off - I will make an admission. This semester I got super busy, and for the first time, Darwin became quite matted. I am usually very diligent about brushing him, so this is the first time he's been matted to this level. I feel terrible about it, and I really didn't even realize how…

Welcome back, Camilla! I recently resurfaced on DK from being MIA for 5 years. I just love seeing pix of Darwin. Do you have any current ones to share? :O)

HI, Camilla! I have not been on DK for awhile, but I decided to contact you for your photography resource! I remember that you had Photography classes by Camilla or something like that on Photography Group. I am wondering if you would be able to send me the link to the lessons you posted..? I recently purchased Nikon D7000 used from my friend, and I would like to practice! I remember how helpful you were on the photography group!

I can't wait to hear about your trip. We took that one last June and the weather was perfect. I forgot to mention that the Glass Museum displays glass that has been tumbled and worn by the ocean and found on the beaches.

What a great trip you have planned.  I can't wait to see your pictures.  You are going to find California's coast breathtaking (Goat Rock near Bodega Bay)

the redwoods huger than huge,

and the drive-through the tree in Leggett is supposedly better than the other one in the Redwoods.Be sure to visit the Big Foot Museum in Willow Creek, And be sure to visit the Glass Museum in Fort BraggAnd there is a very cute lunch place in tiny, touristy Trinidad called the Trinidad Eatery.

I envy you going to Tilamok.  We stopped there once years ago and I got some fabulous cheese.

Hi Camilla,  I love your pictures.  Darwin is so photogenic.  What camera do you use?

I looked at the Millers link but it says you have to be a professional. Your photos certainly are professional, but do you actually have to be a professional photographer?

Did I ever show you this?  I can't remember.  This is the website I made for my mom.  We've actually raised like $15,000 and are going to give away scholarships every year.  Those little colored shapes in the corner were her life's work.

I think you mentioned that Darwin has red patches on his elbows and hiney like Owen has. I took the dogs to the vet this week and asked about this condition. The vet immediately asked me if we had cement at our house here and didn't have it in CA. Yes! We had no cement in CA and there is a cement patio in our back yard now. She said that the patches were from rubbing on the cement when sitting and lying down. Just thought I would let you know, in case Darwin has cement in his life. ???
