Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I had a previous discussion (Ace has been caught!) but the updates to add pictures was getting so long. These are pictures from Tues and some from today. Marco is doing incredibly well. He enjoys playing with toys, sleeping in a dog bed and goes willingly into his crate as well. While he does seem happy to be in a home, he is also still very frightened of most people and men in particular. He is very comfortable with me and is getting to know my daughter but if she moves too fast, he is frightened.

We took a short walk on a leash today and while he did not try to get away from me, I could tell he was very nervous. The smallest sound scares him yet inside the house he seems very comfortable with normal household noises. He is not frightened by my blow dryer, the coffee grinder or the blender. I sooo wish he had a "black box" like airplanes do so we could find out his story!

We have not made any decisions regarding his future yet. We are considering all our options and taking our time so as to make the right decision.

He is the sweetest Doodle! He wags his tail at me and has even given me a few kisses. It is so hard to believe that this is the same dog that was so determined to stay away from everyone even in the freezing cold. I have no previous experience with rescue so maybe this is normal, I just don't know. He has surely stolen the hearts of a lot of people!

Wow...3 months at that point!?  Craziness.  And then it turned into 6 months is that right?  So if the doodle found wasn't the one you were thinking of does that mean that Ace wasn't caught or that another doodle is still out there that looks like Ace?

This is the doodle that they believed was Ace and that they have been trying to capture for the last 6 months.  Once they captured him however, he was not neutered and did not have a microchip -- so he was not the real Ace.  The real Ace's whereabouts are unknown.

Thank you BG.  Super sad for the real Ace and his owners.  Super awesome for this guy!

Thank you BG for answering the question. I have just been so busy, trying to acclimate him to domestic life and also trying to keep up with the FB demand. I appreciate the help!

Here's a link to his Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100005277079376&fref=ts

Or, if it's easier, just go to FB and search for Saving Ace.

Thanks for the update....I have fallen in love with this guy.  I so love "happy endings".

I have been following on FB and enjoying the pics and videos. He really seems to be taken with Pippa. The two look like puppies when they interact. It is so good to see this good news after the loooong struggle team Ace endured trying to capture him.
I was also wondering about his name? How did you chose it? It's a great name by the way!

We originally chose that name a couple months ago when we began to suspect he was not actually "Ace".  Marco Polo for his travels and adventures, but also Don Juan DeMarco because he was caught following a little dog in heat into the fenced yard. We are actually considering changing his name to Romeo because he is so handsome and again because of the way he was caught.

I want only the best for this beautiful dog. Thank you so much for helping him!

Oh Laurie, that is what we all want. He is such a precious, sweet soul!
