I just do not understand either side of this situation.  What is wrong with people?  Do they really not know there are other options?

Here I am looking through applications for Harper' new family.  After reading this story it makes me nervous to even consider one.  When it comes to placing my fosters I'm anal to begin with, LOL.  I guess now I'm going to need a new word for it.

Yes, go ahead and give me suggestions.  I know some of you would just not be able to resist.

Go ahead & keep Harper!  You KNOW you want to!  About this story...this was very sad to me.  Seems like he should have moved rather than kill himself.  I wonder if deep down he did realize the dog was getting aggressive or something.

Nothing about this story makes sense to me at all. I think this man had some very deep and severe mental problems, way beyond feeling harassed about his dog. I don't really think the dog had much to do with the decisions he made.

I'm very sorry for the dog and the man's family & loved ones.

This was just so sad that I couldn't finish the entire article.

what is saddest about this story is that this man didn't get the help he obviously needed before it was too late. Sounds like he had some serious mental health issues.

Sounds like this man has suffered from depression.  I hope his family can find peace.  So sad..........

Karen and Sherri, I agree.  It kinda sounds like his friends knew he was having problems. I'm sure there is a lot more to the story.  It is unfortunate he didn't get the help he needed.

This story was on one of the evening programs a month ago.  Extra, Entertainment Tonight, ...... one of those.

The entire strife of this situation was put out there and all he was going through.  The new laws, his pain....

Too bad it ended this way.

This story makes me wanna cry...why would people act like that? So sad...I don't understand the decisions...because people in the building no longer wanted him, all of a sudden the dog had aggression issues? Frankly, I probably just would have moved because I wouldn't want to live in a building with people like that anyway....depressing story.

This is just sad no matter how you look at it.

I don't understand how a veterinarian could tell an owner that a dog had become aggressive, wouldn't an owner know? I suspect this man was already depressed and that this may have all evolved from that. Depression often leaves people thinking they have no options. He may have euthanized the dog so it would not be abandonned and the killed himself. A very sad story indeed.Oops, just read Karen's reply and I see I'm not the only one thinking this.

What a sad story.... I think that maybe by him putting down the dog was the straw that broke the camel's back.  There is more to the story than what is being told I think, more mental issues on the owners part.  With depression in humans sometimes its that one thing that pushes them over the edge - its a very sad situation for everyone including the dog :(

The article is so sad, but I agree with Karen, there must have been underlying mental health issues.  Suicide is extreme and there are always underlying issues.  What is so sad, in addition to the dog being euthanized is that no one seemed to be aware that the young man was so distraught/depressed.  Depression is nothing to be ashamed of and anyone experiencing it should be encouraged to seek help.  Sorry if I seem to be on a pulpit.........
