Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hello -

We are going to be adding a doodle to our growing family. I was wondering if you could point me in the right direction - training, grooming, diet, etc.

I'm looking for Doodle 101 if there is such a thing.

Both my husband and I have had dogs in the past - this will be our first family dog.

We have a grooming group, a training group, a puppy Madness group (to remind you of all the crazy and annoying things puppies do) and The Food Group --- check them all out in the Groups section of the site.  Although I would say that diet and training is pretty universal rather than doodle specific, our food group is top notch!

Here's an old thread on important things to prepare for before getting a doodle:  http://www.doodlekisses.com/forum/topics/considering-a-doodle-crowd...

As Adina mentioned ~ check out the groups section on the main page and join as many as you like.  Welcome to DK!

Doodles are no different from other smart  puppies you may have raised, so if you are an experienced dog owner, you will be fine.  As Adina suggested, join the Puppy Madness, Grooming, Nutrition groups for current thoughts and suggestions, and up-to-date information on dog nutrition. Doodles as a group are people oriented and not meant to be 'outside' dogs, or left alone all of the time.

The groups on this site will give you all the information you will need to have a healthy happy doodle family member. Just be aware about the allergy free advertisements that usually go with this breed. There are certainly no guarantees regarding allergy free. And again with no shedding or low shedding. It's all a gamble. Just as long as you are aware of the amount of exercise, training and grooming needs of this breed, you will be making the best decision ever by getting one of these loving dogs. Good luck.
