Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

My Chase is 4 years old, he is a neutered male.  On a couple of occasions recently I have noticed that he has peed in his sleep.  Not a whole pee, just a small amount.  Has anyone else had this happen with their doodle?  I did a search but all the other discussions seemed to refer to puppies.

Also, he is a multigen non-shedding doodle with a mostly curly coat.  I have noticed recently that he has got patches where his coat has gotten really thin and wispy, you can almost see his skin through and his skin appears to be quite dry.  (We do heat with wood in the wnter which does dry your skin out).  But, I find it strange that this is only occuring in patches.  Any ideas??

I don't know if this coat change is related to his peeing in his sleep or not, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Thanks guys.

You're absolutely right, Sue. I can't remember the last time I bought any of JD's meds from the vet. Everything is a human medication that's available at the pharmacy, and it's much cheaper there. And now, many pharmacies are carrying even the meds that are veterinary only. They advertise that they can flavor medications for your pets, too.

All of his supplements are human ones as well.

The specialists usually give you a prescription; they don't stock medications like the GP vets do. They don't sell Rx foods, either. Shampoos, supplements, whatever they recommend, they write it down and tell you to get the human ones. Some do tell you to get the foods or meds from your regular vet, who referred you to the specialist, lol.

The only thing I buy from the vet these days is Heartgard and Frontline, and that's only because i had bad experiences ordering those on-line. Besides, the poor vet has to make a living somehow, lol.

Flavor the medications! I would never have thought of that one. for those fussy dogs that would be helpful. if i wrap anything in cheese, mine eat it!
Ha, I do the same with the Heartguard and Frontline too, just to give some support to my vet other than the few yearly visits and occasional ear infection we go for. I don't buy her drugs, foods or treat products, dont have routine stool tests done unless they are symptomatic and refuse most vaccinations or get some of them at the clinic. She is always very open about how it is cheaper to get medications elsewhere, and always complimenting M and B on how healthy and good natured they are. And has had the class to not mention how small Murphy's penis is. In front of him anyway.....lol
