Never before found in Ohio, Deer ticks have been found in 22 (52 said another report) out of 88 counties. Once thought to be unheard of in my area, new warnings are beginning to appear in the past few months.
I have ignored your posts of Lyme Disease and deer ticks for the most part because of it not pertaining to me or my dogs. But, now I'm clueless.
From this map, it is not in my county yet, but I am surrounded. Only a matter of time-days Opps, they are here. I read the map wrong. Welcome Deer Ticks.
I have deer living just 100 yards away in the back. I'm thinking this is just a name and not related to deer as we have had deer for a long while.
Fill this clueless girl in! Thanks

I did find us on the map. We are in Brown County which is one of the blue counties. I haven't seen many ticks of any sort. I think in the 4 years we have had the girls we have seen maybe 2 ticks. They aren't in wooded areas very much though. We don't even treat for ticks. I'll keep an eye out though!
I had no idea there was a song about Ticks. My husband was thrilled when I told him we need to check each other for ticks and started singing this song. Good grief! LOL
'Cause I'd like to see you Out in the moonlight I'd like to kiss you Way back in the sticks
I'd like to walk you Through a field of wildflowers And I'd like to check you for ticks

Seriously!??? LOL
Thank you all for your responses. I do feel now I can make an informed decision
Who would have thunk you can get romantic from TICKS?
Well, the ticks do crawl in to warm moist places--that kind of "tick check" can get pretty intimate....
Yes, indeed it does get very intimate. I wish I could tell you about the funny episode getting a tick off my husband's ...."private area". We still laugh about it! It involved a flashlight, a magnifying glass and tweezers. Needless to say the funniest part was the position he had to get in. We hate ticks!!!
