Advid Micro Chip

Hello,

I was wondering if the Advid micro chip is the best ? I know there are several types on the market and was reccommended this type. I am not sure of the name of the micro chip that I had in my Cocker Spaniel , it has been years ago, and was done at the SPCA. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

We have had both the Home Again and Avid. Currently we are chipping our puppies with Home Again chips, those that we retain for our breeding program are registered with Avid. You can register non Avid numbers with them ~ the advantages are it is a one time registration with no annual renewal and they have pricing that allows for multiple animals, which is why we use them. Our current use of Home Again is not connected in any way with a feeling that one is superior to the other but rather convenience (arrives fully loaded in syringe) and availability from our supplier. In terms of advantages if heaven forbid it is required for someone to scan should you become separated I think most agencies use a universal scanner which would recognize both.

Thanks gals! We are going with the Advid micro chip! Hopefully we never have to use it..but not taking any chances! Shadow played all day with his sister Zoe! It was so much fun watching the pups play! I will post more pictures!! Have a wonderful doodle day!!!!!

Well......I must say....I should NOT have WATCHED!!!!! Shadow bled a lil and that needle was HUGE! Shadow messed up his outfit with the blood and it's been a lil chilly here....Thank GOD.....I had his jacket in my car!!!!! He was pitiful...made me feel so bad....I know its one of those things in life that ya gotta do.....for safety!
