We had torrential rain all night and now it's merely raining. The electricity just wavered but remained on. No trees down although I heard things hitting the roof. The basement has a couple of inches of water. They say the rivers will crest and flood in the coming days. The reverse 911 warned us to stay off town roads which are flooded. It could have been much worse here and I hope everyone fared as well.

My biggest fear was getting the dogs out but Luca decided that about 5:30 pm last night was enough til 10:30 today. Then he was carrying on around the shed where the woodchucks live. Could they have climbed up inside or on the vines? I'm sure the burrow is flooded and he was barking towards the roof of the shed. I had to "lasso" him and bring him in. I was afraid he could get into the brook if the fence was weakened.

The brook behind my house is a raging torrent with white water. In places the yard slants, thankfully, toward the brook and I felt water running through my crocs. Let us know how you are when you can.

Our stream has come down already, but the rivers will crest last, so it could still come up some more at Jane's--Good Luck, Jane--we will be thinking of you!
Any word on Jane, We just got power back after 4 hours.
We're still out since this afternoon. I hope Jane is OK.

As of about 3:30 p.m., Jane had power and things were okay. She has at least three days worth of food & water, emergency supplies, everything they need. And she has a second story.

The problem would be if there was an emergency, they can't get out and nobody can get in. They are not alone. Most of the pet owners in their subdivision also refused to leave.

All that's good. By now they may be getting the tail end of the storm. The winds seem to have mostly died down here. It's good that there are other families nearby.
Thanks for the update. I got on this morning because I was worried about Jane.
Your yard is so beautiful, flooded or not.  I am glad that the storm wasn't any worse and hope the crest of the flooding doesn't cause any more damage. Perhaps the woodchucks got on a boat and left for parts unknown!
Thanks Nancy. I hope you're right about the woodchucks.

I had a strange way to get my electricity on after Hurricane Ike came to our town.

The repair trucks just kept coming by and by each day and night. Still, we had no electricity, no water.   One night around 11:30 a truck went by as I sat on a chair in the garage in my nightgown.  I ran down the driveway and Yelled, Pick me, pick Me!  Jumping up and down.  It wasn't intentional, I just had, had enough.  Maybe, they never wanted to come back by, or maybe they wanted a better look--so they gave me electricity.

We were on in 2 hours.

The next morning on the radio there was a contest about, " what are you doing to get your electricity back on?"  I won tickets to a concert.    Of course on radio, they can not tell what I looked like and gave me the prize.   It was left up to their imagination.

That is so funny. Remember you don't know me : )

Nope, I don't know you  :)

and the radio station never asked what my nightie looked like.  It was an oldie but goodie. Nothing like they were thinking.  The linesman liked it though. Right?    Still, it was not intentional, I was just crazy from the thought of two more weeks with not water so I went a little nuts.

Good Luck to all of you looking for power.  In 4-5 days, you may run down your driveway in your nightie yelling Come Back, Pick Me, Pick Me,  too.

Hilarious Joanne! Too bad you didn't have the I Love Intercourse TShirt on!! hee hee!
