I couldn't decide if these photos that someone shared with me belonged in the Garden Group or the Photography Group so I decided to share them with everybody. They are quite special and the photographer is 15.

These pictures certainly belong on the front page and National Geographic Magazine.  Award Winning.  Especially from a 15 year old child.

I love the detail of the wings in the second shot especially.

I was captivated by the "beading" around the eye you can see in some of the shots.

Oh, I just went back for a second look to find the beading.  Interesting.

Wow, F, thanks for sharing, these are amazing. I think this kid could teach us a few things about photography.

True enough!

wow!

What beautiful pictures. Truly amazing!!

Wow they are great! The one with the red rose is perfect against the white of the bird's feathers!

This is astounding! I, too, thought they should be in National Geographic, Joanne. What a privilege to get to see this magnificent creature.

That is something I have never seen! Beautiful pictures -- I am so impressed!

Great photography !!!  awesome pictures !!  I once had a chance to hold a humming bird which was pretty amazing !!!  I was on my way back into my building during the summer last year.  The glass on our buiding is the mirror kind and the grounds are beautiful with all different kinds of flowers, bushes, trees etc. etc.  I was walking up to my door and saw something on the ground, as I got closer I saw that it was a humming bird.  I figured she hit the mirror glass window and was not sure whether she was dead or not.  So I moved her so no one would step on her coming in our out of the door and put her under a bush in the shade.  I went inside to put my bags down and grab my girlfriend to come and see the bird.  When we went back outside she was still under the bush so I picked her up again and we had a awesome chance to examine her, what a beautiful bird.  It felt like there was nothing in your hands, there was no weight to her what so ever.  I touched her little head and her eyes blinked so I knew she was alive.  We talked to her and figured she got knocked out from hitting the mirror glass windows.  I did not know what to do, I could not bring her into the building because I work for a human tissue bank where we process human issue for transplant.  So we decided to let mother nature take its course.  We turned to go back in and I glanced one more time at her and in a spit second she flew off.  I was so relieved that she was ok and flew away.  The I though OMG what a great expierence you just had... how many people get to hold a humming bird !!!!  I wish I had my camera with me :(

What an amazing story. I wish you had had your camera too.
