Remember this is a social forum.  We do have many well informed members and they are do care about the welfare of our pets but they ARE NOT VETERINARIANS!!

Good reminder! This forum is a source of valuable information, but your trusted vet should be the number one person that you contact when a problem arises. It is better to be safe than sorry!

Good points indeed! But there are many minor ailments we can treat ourselves. If all goes well great if not off to the vet I once wrote a discussion about this.

Yes - I am thinking it is similar to a parent treating minor ailments of their children.  Also, sometimes a call to the doctor is all that is needed.

Absolutely.  Advice from us should be a help to as background or breadth to personal research, but not as the correct or only treatments.
