Annie came home!

Yesterday, Elizabeth and I went to speak with the doctor about Annie's long term care. He gave us a list of all her medications and told us all about her very serious Inflammatory Bowel Disease. She is a very sick girl- he rated her an 8 out of 10 for how sick she is. There is no doubt that she would have died a very painful death alone if she were not caught.

She was in very good spirits- no doubt because she was able to leave the hospital!
At this point she is having very runny diarrhea and doesnt have control of it. Her behind is is a little raw and really bothers her so thats the reason she must still wear the double cone. Even with that she is able to work her way around it. We put her in a diaper originally but those are really made for urinating so they dont help much and they are very expensive. Elizabeth brought over a topical spray today that seems to give her some comfort.

Annie has quite an extensive list of medications and each one is very expensive! Unfortunately, that means we still need to raise funds for her. Her heart worms will still need to be treated as well but for now, she just needs to heal and get her bowel and intestinal problems a little more under control.

Annie is a very very lucky girl to have you and Elizabeth in her corner, Lori. It's hard enough to do all this for your own dog, I can't even imagine how stressful it would be for a foster! You've "earned your crown" as they say, that's for sure. I know I'm not the only one here who is humbled, awed and grateful for all you are doing for Annie.

There is a saying by Charles Doran that I came across when I read "Bones Would Rain From The Sky" that goes..."Folk will know how large your soul is, by the way you treat a dog".  I'm thinking you and Elizabeth must have enormous, wonderful souls.  You have been Annie's angels.  Like Karen, I too am humbled and so moved just watching all that you are doing first for "Ace" and now for Annie.  I think it's time for another donation.  THANK YOU!

Thank you Jane! I think Elizabeth and I both feel that the more we see the awful stuff people do, the more we love those dogs! Thank you for caring and loving them too. We absolutely could not do it without the financial AND emotional support! I had a hard time yesterday. Today was better with help from all my friends here!

I was so wondering if Annie got to come home.  The real work begins.  I do hope you have enough help at home.  With all your other babies!  Wow!  Yes," I believe their are angels among us " and you and Elizabeth fit the Halo's.  Some people think these innocent animals do not deserve loving care...us folks that love dogs do not understand, don't want to understand, and will never understand.  Bless you for your compassion, your time, your patience and opening your home and your heart to this doodle. She will still have to endure the pain of HW treatment and recovering from her surgery and dealing with her IBD. Makes my head spin!  Thanks for the updates.  She sure is a heartbreaker...looks so "fetching" in those blue cones!  Thank goodness Elizabeth had spray...anal irritation has got to be the worst(specially when you can't scratch your itch!)  :(

I am so sorry that Annie has IBD.  At least you have our resident expert to teach you the do's and don'ts for her care. 

Thank you for rescuing her, for seeing to her medical needs, for continuing to care for her until she is well enough to find a forever home.  Perhaps kid diapers?
