Wendy,  We all have to live within our comfort zones - pushing them just a bit if we can.  You are able to have a dog to love and that is a wonderful thing.  If you want to help shelter dogs, you can.  You don't have to adopt one, you can donate things - rags, newspapers, cleaning supplies, food, or you can donate money to shelters, the ASPCA, or specific rescues.

Thanks Nancy - I do donate my old towels etc. to our SPCA but when you see these pictures of these puppy mill dogs, you just want to hold them and hug them and make their world right again.  It's their eyes....right??  So sad!

You are right.  The eyes...

WOW .. Karen you got a 'SUPER' dog.  Our dogs have done everything at one time or another that Jack hasn't done.  The only exception is ours 'like Jack' has never nipped at anyone.

LOL, yes I really got lucky. When I went to pick him up after his first grooming, the groomer said "How did you find this dog in a shelter???" :)

I think JD is a lucked out in the adoption as well. Considering his health issues, you have taken very good care of him, where some people might have been overwhelmed and taken him back to the shelter.

We were just meant to be together. :)
