Another Lowes trip today. Info from the Mgr.

Another Lowes trip was in order today. We put Enzo in a cart, thinking they would be less likely to ask us to leave. Have to admit...at 47 lbs, she looks silly, but loves riding in the cart. We were met by " Lauren" who adores Enzo and always has a treat ready for her.







As Enzo was entertaining , the Mgr. Walked up, and I thought: " here it comes". Instead he laughed at her in the cart and he too, gave her a hug. I figured what the hell and came right out and asked about any new policies regarding dogs in the store. He sort of rolled his eyes and said in Ca. they have told their employees to go on a dog by dog basis. If a dog is barking a lot, if a dog is showing ANY kind of aggression , they are to be TOLD ( not asked) to leave. They were also told to watch " high risk " dogs. His words, not mine. I"m guessing this meant Pits, Rotties, etc. seems really asinine to me. He did say that MANY customers shop with their dogs and Lowes felt that these people would shop their competitor (Home Depot), if they could no longer bring in their dogs.
Makes no sense to me....but we were happy to hear Enz was still welcome.

Lowes actually profited from allowing Yogi in the store. We had been in several times, so when we
were pricing fence installation, we remembered seeing the counter with that info, so we walked in with
Yogi and made arrangements for them to come out and give us a quote. They had the best deal so we made the purchase
from them.
Would not have even thought of them otherwise, so it was a win/win.

Such a cute picture.  That's so great that you let other people enjoy your doodle.  I didn't know those stores allowed dogs either ... but I am going to start taking mine...especially on those cold cold days when I do not want to walk outside.  We have a dentist office and I had Skadi there one day.  She's actually been coming to our office for years.  She mainly just lays out of the way and when the kids come to get a prize out of the treasure chest she will greet them.  Everyone has commented on her great behavior, etc...until the other day we had a patient call the american Dental Association and complain.  She did not think it hygienic to have a dog in the office.  Instead of saying anything to us, she calls the Assoc.  Long story short, our insurance lawyers told us there was nothing wrong with having her in the office even if she isn't a service dog.  You cannot deny someone who has a service dog to go right into the operatory in a dental office.  We learned a lot about the American Disability Act and the rights of dog owner's.

Joan...I am so glad Skadi continues to be welcome at your office. I swear, some people are not satisfied, if they are not stirring the pit and causing trouble.
My last Golden was a certified a Therapy Dog. We worked with drug abuse and sexual abuse kids. I continued his training at the Health Club I worked out in. I had noticed he was a bit skittish with the sound of metal clashing. The sound of the weights hitting in the gym were very much like the sound that made him nervous. The management at the gym ok'd his presence. And in fact, the local Newspaper did an article on us. HE was made member of the month twice in 2 yrs.( I never got the honor).
Fast forward about 2 1/2 yrs and a woman joined the club and absolutely pitched a fit! I use to go first thing in the morning to workout and train him and explained I would gladly change my hrs. She would hear nothing of it. She said she was allergic and just his presence ( whether she was there or not) caused her problems. She never would pinpoint her health problems. Just that it was unacceptable to have him in the building.
I have never met a nastier woman! I finally relented and told the Club I would no longer bring the dog to train. To my surprise, they opted to keep the dog and let the woman quit her membership! She actually wrote a letter to the Editor of the paper! Of course, it just made her look really bad.

I agree...many ignorant people in the world.  When the ADA American Dental Association) representative called to talk to us I asked why the dog could not be in the office and she said because of the oath "to do no harm"....so I ask what harm...she told me diseases that the patients could contract from the dog...so I retorted...and what about all the sick patients that come into the office?...all she could say was that was "different".  Very unfortunate that our own ADA and MDA who we pay "dues" doesn't educate themselves.  They were adamant that a "service" dog couldn't even come into the operatories.  Our friend and patient who has a service dog put us straight on that information and so we shared it with the ADA and the MDA (dental associations).  We decided unless a patient decides to "lick" Skadi's butt...they are probably NOT going to come to any harm!  So, we will monitor that for sure! HA!

So cute!  A bonus of treats too, doesn't get any better!   I'm moving to San Diego!  I wish I could, my dearest friend lives in Escondido and that would really be a bonus for me!   LOL
