What dog food do you use and recomend?  My breeder said to choose a dog food with more meat and not a lot of fillers.  I guess this also will mean less doggie waste as well.  She gave me a few to look at:  Nutro, California Natural, Canidae, Eukanuba and Science Diet.

So, what do you feed your Doodle?

I just saw and joined the Food Group!!!  Sure I am gonna get a lot of good info there as well.
You will learn so much from the Food Group!
Food group will give you all the information that you need.  You might want to consider grain-free as a choice of food that has less fillers and more meat.
I had bags of all kinds of food on my kitchen counter when trying to find the right food for my doodles.  It looked like a Chinese buffet.  I finally found Taste of the Wild and that was it.  They get a small amount of wet mixed in with their morning meal.  Good luck with your new addition - doodles are such fun.

go to this site...............it will make your decision much easier............. Please no Science Diet..............Lowest rating on this study!
I know!  I was surprised that a breeder would have recommended 3-4 of those foods!  Definitely do some research first.  I listened to my Vet before joining the food group - biggest mistake ever!

No to Nutro, Eukanuba and Science diet for sure. Definitely look around the food group! Just in case you didn't see this there....

Thanks everyone.  Was reading the food group a lot last night and I am gonna try the Orijen Large Breed Puppy food.  Don't think I read anything at all that was bad about that one.

Feel free to share any experiences or advice on that one.

Hi Jenny, If I recall you mentioned your puppy will grow to be around 40 pounds. I don't think you need to feed them large breed puppy food unless they will be 50+. Stella will probably be 40-45 pounds and I have had her on regular Orijen Puppy food (topped with a crumbled Stella and Chewy patty) Orijen is about as good as you can get. Sometimes I will add some sweet potato, a few blueberries or a couple spoons of minced cooked chicken breast just to give her a little variety and extra nutrition.

Yeah, breeder says between 35 and 40 pounds mature.

When you say add sweet potato, do you mean canned yams?  I never heard of blueberries.  Thanks for the suggestions,  I'll have to remember that.

Jenny, I usually just bake a sweet potato and keep it in the fridge, giving her a couple of cut up slices in her kibble once in a while. She also likes a raw green bean to chew on then and again. As Nancy says they can eat lots of veggies. (just not grapes or onion)
That is wonderful, I can't wait to try these things.  Thanks for the tips!!  I love a baked sweet potato myself.
