I have a Goldendoodle that was impregnated some were about mid October. Cant afford a vet. Any advice on care, food, or preparation would be helpful.
I cleared out an area for her in a spare room. I hope to have a whelping box for her. ( If anyone has one they're not using right now that I could use, That would be great.) From what I can figure she is ready to drop any time in the next 7 to 10 days.
Help!
Unprepared

:- ( So sad for this doodle mom to be..... :-{
And I guess it means there are other irresponsible owners in the neighborhood.
You can just delete the duplicate with the little x.
Sue, I agree at the very least she is asking and does show "some" concern. Obviously she is a very inexpierenced pet owner because #1 all responsible pet owners spay/neuter their animals. There IS low cost programs out there for people who want to own pets but can't afford regular vet prices, the charge is minimal. What is sad is that she can't afford 1 dog no less a bunch of puppies when they are not nursing and require food. And as I said in my earlier post... what if something goes wrong during birth with Mama or a puppy. It is not easy taking care of a mother dog and her babies expecially when you do not have a clue on what to do, plus larger dogs have big litters.
Oh gawd.......this is so disgusting. I missed all these posting yesterday...just catching up today and it seems Craigslist is a dumping ground for Doodles. These are just a few dogs....I hate to think about how many other dogs are listed there by selfish, lame, thoughtless people. Not a good way to start the day.
Sorry Carol :(
Someone needs to get in there and take this poor dog away from this idiot. Why isn't that possible. has someone at least contacted her to try and convince her to seek help from a shelter or soemthing? Not that I want to see them in a shelter, but at least there will be vet care. I want to barf.
To be clear Molly was NOT in heat and is just six months old now..... however
I just want to say one thing.. I know it is not the same situation, but none of us really know her situation, just the way she presented herself in this add.
Molly was scheduled to be spayed right around when i went into the hospital. My mom is 70 years old, a brand new puppy owner and was very busy tending to me and scared to death her daughter was going to lose her life. Nothing happen but my mom when I woke up after being extubated, I asked about the dogs and she said the dogs were in daycare for the day and oh I think Molly is in heat!!!!
Just so everyone heart can beat again Molly WAS NOT in heat... The reason my mom thought Molly was in heat is because Jack tried to hump her several times which is out of the ordinary for her. I am assuming he did this because Jack's alpha (me) was not there so he was trying to take charge.. Molly never bled.. she isn't in heat it was my mom's mistake and lack of understand which I take responsibility for since she heavily relies on me to teach her things.
Had Molly been in heat.. it would have been a disaster to say the least. It would not have made my mom a bad person, It would not have made her in idiot, it would have been a very unfortunate mistake, My mom was focused on me living and never connected the two.
My mom would have no idea what to do with Molly if she was pregnant none.. and neither would I. I would post questions and ask on the internet, I would read up on it, I would call my breeder, talk to the vet etc....
The only thing I can think of is what if the ladies dog went into season before she could get her fixed and she was just not educated? We just don't know really what people's situations are.
Not having money for a vet is sad.... She needs to be educated about where she can go for help, free vet care. and what to do.. I think that would be the most helpful thing for her..especially because none of us really honestly know her situation.......better just to help and educate....IMO
Thank you for bringing a possible reality to us Jennifer. One school of thought is to let a dog have one heat before neutering. You are right this person may have presented herself and the situation so that is looks suspicious.
