Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have a Labradoodle, Sadie who is 4 and a Goldendoodle, Sara who is 3.

Sadie is very frightened of loud noises.  She was ok until she was about a year old.

She has developed a fear of gun shots, fireworks, riding lawnmower and sneezes.

Sadie has become increasingly more disturbed by loud sounds.  Sara our other dog is not affected by noise.

If one of us is on the riding lawnmower she paws at the other person, pants and shakes. We have about 2 acres in lawn so this happens every week.

Both of my dogs are about 75 lbs.  Does anyone know of anything which will calm a dog down without affecting her health.

I am in if you let my poor Springer in. My doods are fine, lucky me.
Awww-- I actually looked into Springers while looking for Spud. OF COURSE. We want to help all these dogs.

It can break your heart to wonder what makes them this way. Poor Babies
I would offer to be the doodle psychiatrist but, I kid you not, not allowed to prescribe for dogs!
Not a problem :)

I did submit the group buit wonder should it just a be a subgroup of "The Medical Issues Group"?

My opinion is no, but I welcome suggestions.

I also wonder is there enough to discuss?
Great idea... I have a feeling we may need a lot of couches! lol
I'll be gone tonight. I have a class this week until 10pm. So start without me if it gets approved.
Here is the link to our new group for anxiety:

couldn't have come at a better time. It is HELL in our house tonight. My son just left. Starlit was so upset my son left after an hour. I'll explain in the group later.
Joanne ~ Looks like you've had a night kind of like mine.... pull up a couch! LOL
I have tried Clomicalm with extreme success for anxiety. I tried all the other things you mentioned. I spoke with my vet for weeks about it. It is a prescription that he gave me. My labradoodle does have problems with being left alone and can get VERY destructive. Also, Loud noises. We live in rural Pennsylvania, with gun shots, also, Maple Grove Raceway is about 7 miles away and I also have my family's camping resort right nearby so I can't have him barking in the house for hours. It just won't work. It works fantastic and I have found this works best for me. It does NOT make him drowsy at all, it does not do anything but takes the anxiety away.
