Any doodles from Pennsylvania or Maryland?

Hi everybody! As some of you know, my family and I have been looking into the idea of adopting a doodle puppy. I've been scouring the internet, calling veterinarians, and asking friends for references of breeders who would be within driving distance for us. We live in southern PA, so most breeders in PA would be doable, as well as many in MD, and possibly northern VA or WV. I have mild allergies to dogs, so I really need an F1B. Most breeders that I've found who are close to us either breed F1's, don't seem to be knowledgeable enough about health and temperament testing, or are raising their dogs and puppies outside. (We do live in the puppy mill capital of the US, after all!) I've found some breeders who look really good online, but are way too far for us to travel to. Moss Creek in Florida, Smeraglia in Alabama, Lakeshore Doodles in New York are on the top of my list. They would be able to ship the puppy to us, but I'm a bit leary of that idea.
Having said all of that, have any of you gotten your doodles somewhere close to southern PA? Or can anybody share your experiences with having your puppy shipped to you?

You might try the Pennsylvania group in our groups section...I think it's called Oodles of PA Doodles or something like that =) Perhaps someone there might have a hint/suggestion for you. But hopefully you'll get lots of other tips to from the rest of the country regarding having pups shipped, etc.

Both my puppies were shipped to New Jersey and it all went very smoothly. Luca came from Washington state and Calla came from California. Calla, who was 17 weeks old, even had a stop, I think in Houston. She came out of her crate clean and dry and adjusted immediately. There are some breeders in southern NJ. I don't know if they have dogs that meet your requirements. There's also a rescue doodle in NJ listed on the main page.

I live in Pennsylvania. Got my doodle from a breeder in Kansas ( Four Paws Doodles)after talking with many breeders. She is wonderful and ships the pups with special loving care! She provided many references and phone numbers/ emails. No problems and she was wonderful to work with. I was very hesitant to start looking on the Internet- long distance. You really have to do your homework and speak to these people on the phone. Holly ships to many states. Check out her web site

Hi and welcome to Doodlekisses from another Pennsylvanian. Lucy and I live near Pittsburgh. When I was researching for a doodle puppy, before doodlekisses, I was going to buy from florida and have a puppy shipped until I found Lucy in Ohio and I decided I would rather drive and be able to pick her up vs having her shipped. It was in the middle of summer and that was why I decided that. Since then I have been greatly educated from the wonderful doodle owners here and would not hesitate at this time of year to have a pup shipped. There are people that have pups shipped during the summer months too. AND esp. from a breeder that you are able to talk to that has already received a puppy from a particular breeder that you may be interested in such as from the above breeders mentioned.

We also live in Southern PA. We got Gunner @ Little Mountain Doodles. He has been a fantastic dog. There are so many dogs in need of a good home that you can rescue though. Check IDOG.
