Is anyone knowledgeable about using an airline to ship a puppy? Airline recommendation, details
about crates, etc., etc.?

And the noise is deafening in the cargo hold. As anyone who has seen the movie "Flightplan" knows, it's right down there next to the engines.

That, plus the commotion of the airport, the conveyor belts, the baggage carts, etc....not the way I would want my new puppy to be introduced to his or her new life.

I agree, no way would I subject a puppy to a lonely and what must be frightening journey. I went to collect both of mine, one a journey of 23 hours and the other six hours. The begining of a love affair in both cases.

Daphne was shipped to me from Michigan to Florida in May 2012. The first attempt had to be abandoned because even in the morning, it was too hot in the cargo. The breeder switched airlines and sent her the same evening. Looking back on that, I should have elected to fly and get her myself. She is fine as far as I know. She did vomit on the way home due to motion sickness or maybe just plain fear. I should have known that if it was too hot for one airline, it should also have been too hot for another. Lesson learned a little late. A year later when we got her mother, we drove from Florida to go get her in person.

So with Delta you don't even have the option of having your pet fly as your carry on. They can only fly cargo...note to self.
