Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We brought home our little guy a couple of days ago & he is the calmest puppy Ive ever met! I have a very omega toy poodle, but even he wasnt this laid back. He just sort of lounges around. He doesnt seem to be feeling bad & is eating/drinking very well. Actually, he is very food motivated and comes running for food. He doesnt have his first vet check until tomorrow, but I dont suspect theres anything wrong. Just curious about it because our experience with our previous doodle was sooooo very different. He was a maniac in every sense. But we did grow to love his mania!

No, but I'm extremely jealous! Lol
If I ever get another, I'm asking my breeder for the calmest, most laid back dog. I'll need it to balance out Stew Lol.

It has only been a few days, so it's a little early to know for sure if this is going to be his temperament.  My advice is to enjoy every minute of it!

I was going to say the same thing! :-)  Enjoy it now 'cuz it may not last! Winnie was a super laid back little gal for about 4 days before she turned into a rip roaring Wild Child Land Shark.....

HA!  Funny funny...describes my little darlin' as a puppy too!

:-) either way we are fine with whatever he is. We adored the our wild child Chester and the puppy craziness was all worth it. But who doesnt love a sweet, gentle soul?

Our Hanna (standard F1) was always pretty mellow.  She was the runt of the litter, and when we went to get her, one of her bigger sisters kept sitting on her head!  A lot of puppies are in your face giving kisses and licking constantly, not her.  In fact when she she would get tired, instead of coming by us and snuggling in, she would go lay under the kitchen table against a wall.  (no kids in the house, so not like she was trying to get away from any craziness or anything.)  We wondered for months if there was something wrong with her, but she always checked out to be healthy at the vet, and had a good appetite, and was active and smart during play....Just how she is I guess.  She is 4.5 years old now, and active and sweet.  Still not a snuggler, but is calm is crazy social situations as I take her shopping a lot, and she goes to work with me sometimes (Im an accountant) and she is content to hang out all day.  She is plenty active, as she runs 3 times a week with me, 3-6 miles...I think its just what their personality is!!   Good Luck with your new pup!!

Wow, cute and calm...you hit the jackpot.

Sadie was always pretty laid back, although she could (still can) also be very stubborn. She never ran crazy around the house or shredded things. She is definitely the calmest doodle that I have ever met.

Leo is mellow and was a laid back puppy.  He loves to play but is so laid back he will hang out by your feet and rest.  He starts his therapy dog training in a few weeks.  Enjoy your sweet puppy!

Kona has always been calm and laid back. But I agree that it may be just an adjustment phase from his recent move to your house. No one needs to be jealous of me. Our second doodle has made up for it! He's almost five and we "think" he is beginning to calm down a little. :o)

Loki was and still is soooooo mellow, everyone assumes he's an old senior dog. I was always expecting him to "warm up" to us but he did warm up just kept his mellow :) Whenever doodles are mellow they remind me of Snuffy from Sesame Street and that probably the best comparison to Loki who is now rather large, everything is very "ho-hum" enjoy your baby!
