Strange question... Do any other doodles not understand the concept behind heaters?  We have baseboard heaters throughout the entire house and during the summer Bella liked to lie against them.  Now that they are on, and hot, she still likes to lie against them.  We end up calling her away from that area if we notice her, but two or three times we have smelled her burning furr before we notice her.  She has actually burnt her furr and probably nearly caught on fire without knowing to move!  She'll be fidgeting as though she is uncomfortable but won't know to get up and go somewhere else.  How do we fix this?  What happens if we're not home and she severely burns her skin or catches on fire??  Why doesn't she instinctually know to move... Is her furr too thick for her to feel it??

Yikes, I've never heard of this. Darwin is ALWAYS too hot and would never be close to a heater. I'll be interested to hear what others say!
Can you put something in front of the heaters so she can't touch them? If not, I think I would crate her while you're away. I would definitely be concerned of her getting hurt.
I agree with Sandy, I would crate her whenever I left the house. My Lilly is always hot and will lay on the floors cool tiles. Does she go to the same spot to lay? Maybe put her crate or bed more in the center of the floor to get her used to sleeping their. I hope someone can help you to figure something out. Good luck!
Definitely crate her!  I would be scared stiff that her fur could catch on fire!
I am surprised your heaters get that hot!  We have baseboard heating too and they don't get anywhere near that hot.
Maybe you don't have to crate her but you can confine her to a room where she can't access the heaters? It does seem to me they are very hot. I think the few baseboard heaters I have might burn flesh right against them, but with the covers over the actual fins they wouldn't singe hair.
Crating sounds like a good option.  It seems like based on her past experience of the baseboards being cool in summer she just isn't realizing the baseboards are at fault for the discomfort because it happens slowly. If they were to feel super hot instantly to her then she might 'get it' a little better but since it takes a bit for her to get hot laying against them she probably just doesn't realize what's causing it.
