Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I know it's really bad to say this, but I am thinking of giving away my labradoodle puppy I just got last week. I am a medical student in PA and my boyfriend works from home, so we thought we would be able to handle a puppy since he is home all the time. However, we are too young and naive, the puppy requires a lot more work and responsibility than we originally thought. I haven't been to any classes in the past few days and my boyfriend also hasn't been getting much work done at home. The puppy is doing pretty well with potty training and crate training and he actually slept through all the nights that he's here, but with medical school and tests, I really don't think we can handle him anymore. We were both too naive and didn't think a puppy would require this much work.
We got him from a very highly recommended breeder in OH. His Mom is a labradoodle and his dad is a standard poodle. He has received a lot of socialization and doesn't growl when we take away his food or play with his tail and ears. I am positive that he will make an excellent addition to the family, but we just don't have the time and we don't want to neglect him.
If you or you know someone who would like a really good and smart labradoodle puppy, please let me know! I would love to find Pepper a better home. We can also give you the crate and food we bought for him, plus all his toys.

Pepper couldn't possibly find himself a better Momma than you, unless of course it was me. :>)
Go get him Joanne, I'll buy the gas.
I haven't been a member of DK for very long, but I had "lurked" for 2 years before it was time for me to get a puppy. I, also think Joanne would be a terrific choice for Pepper.
Auh Pepper is already taken. A friend recommended someone. She's a retired lady living about an hour away from where I am. She lost a labrador retriever about 4 years ago and would like to adopt Pepper. She's coming here tomorrow at 11AM to pick up Pepper. Thanks for willing to adopt Pepper Joanne. I really appreciate it. If things don't go through with Pepper's new Mommy tomorrow. I will definitely let you know!
It's a sign he was not for me and it is not the right time. My husband is SO RELIEVED :) LOL
Evelyn, it is great that you realize this so soon and it is not a heart break down the road.
Best wishes to you in Medical School. Now get back to class. Come back to us when the time is right
Joanne would be a fabulous puppy owner.
Evelyn--don't feel guilty about putting him in a new home--you would be more guilty if you kept him and did not have time for him...he is young enough to adjust to a new home and puppies have short memories--they are happy almost immediately with a new family--once the food bowl comes out that is...And I must give a BIG YES!! to the idea of Joanne taking him--she is a wonderful Doodle momma who has known heartbreak with a rescue doodle in her past--she deserves a new pup!
Pepper just got picked up by his new family. They seem like a wonderful family for him. It was hard to see him go, but I know that sometimes the best thing is the hardest thing. I hope Pepper will adjust to his new family soon. Thanks everyone for being so supportive. When the time is ready for me, I will definitely come back here again. Now, back to medical school work.
