Our Doodle Olivia recently had an unusual reaction the morning after we gave her Inteceptor and applied Frontline Plus.  It almost seemed like a seizure.  We have always applied the Frontline Plus and gave our Doodles their Inteceptor after dinner on the First Day of every month.  We are interested to know how other Doodle Moms are managing the heartworm and flea prevention schedule.

We also use frontline and Interceptor . I will give her Frontline the first week and wait a week before I give the interceptor. We never had any problems with either one. I also skip the frontline over the winter months here and start up again around april.
I'm still using Frontline Plus and have not had a problem. Both Jack's regular vet and his specialist favor it for safety and effectiveness against flea in festations. I apply it a week after he gets his Heartgard.
I was just going to post about Frontline Plus not seeming to work right now. I had a friend that had the same reaction with her Golden Retriever and using Interceptor - I have been gun shy to even try it because of that. I wonder if they build up a tolerance to certain medications? I also use Heartguard for heartworms.
I use Frontline Plus and Interceptor for Sasha...
I give them to her on the same day.
I asked her Vet and was told that there wouldn't be a problem with that....but...after reading these posts...I think that I'll wait a week in between.
They seem to be working well for her...
How is Olivia feeling today? Is she better.?Anymore symptoms or signs of seizures. Here on DK there is a Seizure Group. They all seem very supportive of each other. If you think this is going on or have questions go join them and ask them for advice and help.

Anyway, just wondered if she was any better today. I certainly hope so and you all can enjoy one final beautiful weekend until the snow starts flying.
Joanne, thank you for being so concerned to check in on Olivia. Yes, she seems OK today. And, yes my sister Kathleen and I looked at the discussion on seizures to see if there was something else we should be concerned about. We are hoping this was a one time reaction. Going forward, we are spacing apart the Inteceptor and Frontline. The weekend was so beautiful, and as you mentioned it may the last before the snow falls. But Olivia is our "Snow Baby". She really loves it when it snows. She gets all those little balls of ice stuck all over her face and coat. She will play outside until we drag her in. As for Sydney, our first Doodle, she is a Sun Goddess. She looks for any ray of sunshine coming into the house and plops herself down on the spot. It can be 100 degrees outside and she will lay in the sun. I just noticed on your page that your Spud made the 2011 Doodle calendar! Congratulations, that is so nice for you and your special Doodle Spud. Starlit also looks really cute! You have a really nice Doodle family!
I have always given both the Heartguard and Frontline Plus on the same day, for convenience sake and so I don't forget. Other than Murphy rolling around on the rug like he's trying to put out a fire on his back, he has no ill effects. I have asked the Vet about his somewhat violent reaction, and she says he really shouldn't "feel" anything. It seems wierd to me, but I figured he just doesn't like the smell or wetness.
I guess I would try doing them a week or more apart to see how that goes if I were you.
